Jacobs!

Rumor has it RB Brandon Jacobs has asked for a trade. BJ is unhappy about being demoted to a backup role, among other things. Has I have stated in previous posts, I am not a big fan of Jacobs. I think he over achieves off the field (talks to much!) and under achieves on it. Being 6'4, 260 and he falling down at first contact is unacceptable. Throwing his helmet into the stands is childish and unacceptable. Nevermind that he has yet to play in a 16 game season since turning pro because of injury. IMO, the Giants won't/can't trade him until at least the end of the season. It's also my opinion that his play and behavior on the field does'nt exactly lend to him being of value to any other team. Do you find this valuable?

Anyone else wannna see Andrews get a shot @ LT? Petrus a few reps on O-line? Some creative plays, from OC like former nyg coach Payton threw at 49ers last night? Three LB'ers on the field or at least 2 at all times? Cruz a few plays at WR? AB & BJ in the same backfield, faking a pitch to one of them and giving it to the other? Bubble screens to playmakers like MM & Nicks (flanker screen for you older fans) LOL We have the talent on the roster imo. Coaches get paid to motivate, watch film, create new ideas, discipline and make adjustments to the other teams moves during the contest, etc. They do not have to smack heads, tear limbs or ice down after a game. Are ours earning their "keep" and giving our players the best chance to be victorious I ask all of you Blue believers? Do you find this valuable?

Rolle rips Giants 'controlled' environment »
By Ralph Vacchiano
New Giants safety Antrel Rolle didn’t like what he saw before the Giants were blown out in Indianapolis on Sunday night. Not from his new teammates, and not from his new coaches either.
So today, Rolle came out firing in an interview on WFAN this afternoon, criticizing the coaches for both the overly “controlled” environment they’ve created and for giving the Giants far too much downtime before the game. The result, he said, was a locker room full of players “just sitting around, being lackadaisical.”
It was no wonder, then, they came out so flat. Read the rest of the insightful artcile @ NYDailynews.com

JHerl: I guess there is no getting around it. Our O-line needs a changing. I have no problem admitting I was wrong. I do have a problem with coaches that do not make adjustments during a game when it is obvious that your game plan is failing miserably. Never was a big Eli fan, his limitations are glaring when he has less than 4 sec to scan the field, but I do not want to see the guy get mauled either. When was our staff going to assign Pascoe or anyone to double team, chip or help Diel who was getting raped by Freeny? Roll the pocket, throw a screen, double TE's to help Mac with Mathis, something other than allowing the same failures over and over again. What about replacing DD with Andrews who had a great camp and has shown his is a quality player and can open holes? Isn't that a way of defining insanity? When was our DC gonna say to himself, they have figured out we came to stop the pass with this personnel, and bring in a quick LB'er like Bulluch to help sure up the run defense? Why would Coach C only dress out two DT's which apparently Detective Peyton noticed early on? Why is it that our once proud warriors play like it's NAP TIME after recess, when we play a big game on Primetime TV? In the changing era of players personalities, we have had very good players like Strahan, Barber, Shockey, Umenyiora, Jacobs and now Rolle complain that a once very effective HC, does not get the most from his players. That is he choses loyalty to guys like Tim Lewis, Sheridan & Gilbride, over doing what is neccesary to win. Great coaches like Noll, Shula, and Landry had to face the reality that their styles were no longer effective with today's player's egos and paychecks. I truly believe its' that time in NY. I did not expect to beat Indy last Sunday but I did not expect to see what I did. Another game where our HC stood on the sidelines, hands on hips, puzzled and disgusted look on his face, without demanding adjustments from his Do you find this valuable?

coordinators! I think Stray was right, so was Tiki (even though I disliked the way he did it), Shockey has gone on to be a quiet, yet productive and content TE on a SB winning team where the coach is respected for being an innovator and motivator. Does N.O. have tremendously talented players up and down their roster? No they do not! Too many late season meltdowns, big games, home games, where we do not even compete for this fan OR any fan's liking. We have been blown out, embarrassed and forced to watch players that were once Pro Bowl like warriors flat out QUIT too many times over the past 2 years to deny the obvious. 2007 season not withstanding, we have not won a playoff game under this leadership. We can go on believing things will change but what has been said about history being a good indicator of future events? I stay faithful to Big Blue but everyone on Giant's payroll has a role to play and it all starts at the top. What do other Blue believers see reference this matter? Do you find this valuable?

Im on record during offseason that I thought the O-line was the weak link on this team, I still believe that. Diehl is a natural guard, not a tackle. Seubert should sit and Diehl should move over. Defensively, gimmicks almost never work, stayed with gimmick way to long. Giants should have stayed in base and played Colts straight up. I too thought the Giants would lose, base defense would have kept it closer, IMO. Offensively, not sure if OC Gilbride was aware that in week one the Colts gave up 250 to Texans RB's. Where was Giants running game. Not going to comment on head coach, whether I agree or not, been there done that! I'm fine with Rolle (finally some leadership on defense) saying what he said. I've never had a problem with guys talking who backed it up on the field. Jacobs needs to shut up and play. Jacobs was fined $10000 for throwing helmet in stands during Colts game. Den/nyg, you are correct and I apologize for the oversight. I also agree that #27 needs to take frustrations of zero holes being opened by O-line on either the opposition or the O-line by running thru whatever number hole is called and hitting it like a freight train. If that lineman got stuffed into that hole and gets his fillings loosened by Jacobs, then maybe that lame @$ lineman will either work harder or will be benched for a better player. Strong man Petrus and Andrews should have gotten reps last Sunday imo; if not early on when Mac & Diehl were getting embarrassed, then surely when the game was out of reach! Go Giants!

I also think that Jacobs should just play the game and not worry about himself. It is a team game. Also what he lacks in speed if he hits the line with his head down I think he can move the ball. I think his time is limited to this season. Do you find this valuable?

I've stated this before in another thread here already........Keep your mouth shut and just run the freakin ball. I think that Coach C reiterated the same sentiment to Jacobs yesterday/today. No one likes a millionaire crybaby. Do you find this valuable?

While I do not agree with the way BJ is handling his frustrations, I still believe the real issue lies in coaching, play selection & game planning. Jacobs was elated in week 1, b-c his team competed and scratched out a win. Week 2, and we get annhilated, and its the same no adjustments on O, zero adjustments on D, no personnel changes to help or spark a fire. S-O-S. Why I ask you? How lucky were we that our franchise qb escaped with his life, while we kept not one but 2 OT's in there w/o any help, while they were getting embarrassed? Why, why, why? There is no where to run. There have not been real holes to run thru in 2 years! 2004,2005,2006,most of 2007, 2008,2009 and now its beginning to look like we can add 2010. I know its ONLY one game but its the same stale, ineffective script gang! Great players pissed off at the incompetence of the coaching staff for lack of game planning and making changes during a game. Strahan, Barber, Shockey, Osi, Jacobs, now a Pro Bowl S/CB Rolle, with a knack of making big plays making the same observations. Our talent is still more than sufficient, but some of it is riding the pine. 75% of this game is DESIRE and even highly paid players will those that when they have little or no confidence in their decision makers. The last decent team we beat was the 2009 Cowboys on December 6th, the last very good team we beat was early in 2008 vs Pittsburg on the road. Is that OK with Big Blue fans? The writing is on the wall in BIG LETTERS! Go Giants. Do you find this valuable?

I dont understand it myself. I think the O line is not what it used to be and is overrated. The key to any offense is the running game and until the Giants figure out what the problems are we will see more of the same of what we saw against the Colts. Yes TE Boss healthy will help some what but to what extent who knows? Know one wants to relive the SuperBowl run or the first 12 games of 2008 more than I but lets face it, we are not that good and chants for COWHER will be coming.

You are right about Jacobs. His actions on and off the field are a cause for concern. Like you said trading him is not going to happen now. He should run with his head down through the line and I think he will have longer runs.Ron Do you find this valuable?
