Week 14
Dec 7 2009, 4:09 PM EST | Post edited: Dec 7 2009, 4:09 PM EST
nj.com reorts Chris Snee has no major damage to injured knee. Chris Snee said Sunday night he was hopeful the knee injury that forced him to leave Sunday's game against the Cowboys wasn't a major one. Snee got his wish.
An MRI Monday revealed no significant damage, just normal "wear and tear," to the joint, according to someone informed of Snee's injury status. The person, who requested anonymity because the Giants haven't provided any information on the injury yet, said Snee should be able to play on Sunday night against the Eagles in what will be another critical divisional game for the Giants. GREAT NEWS for the Giants offensive line!

NY newspaper described the NFL as week to week business. How true. Skins almost, shoulda beat Saints, Cards dominate Vikes, Raydas beat Steelers in PITTSBURG? Me thinks we are starting to see the effects of NFL parity and "charity". Every week the coaches that can motivate their multi-million dollar players, put in 18 hr. days watching films and game planning, have a legitimate chance at beating their opponent. Oakland has looked like a division III football teams at times, while in between they beat Cincy, Philly & Pitt! Hard to figure out. Gmen favored by 1 a bit puzzling but vegas is vegas. I can only hope our coaching staff can motivate our squad like they did last week and TC and Gilbride can figure out a way to get our offense in gear. Take away the great catch by Nicks, the long TD run of an 8 yard "out" by jacobs and our O, was WO--eful! Eagle D, despite key injuries, have baffled Big Blue and Eli 3x in a row. Lets hope Bradshaw is playing on better wheels this week; we will need his speed this week imo. Do you find this valuable?

Just watched one of my all time favorite NYG, Amani Toomer on NFL channel. With regret in his voice, Toomer apologized but picked Philly to win NFC east. He said that on the heels of saying he is looking to get into broadcasting, so he has taken the first step.....being objective. I'm not sure I agree with him as of this post, but I give him credit for being honest. Do you find this valuable?

Giants signed DB London Fryar to practice squad The Associated Press
The New York Giants have signed the son of former NFL standout Irving Fryar to their practice squad.
The Giants announced Tuesday that defensive back London Fryar was signed to their practice squad. He will take the place of fellow defensive back Vince Anderson, who was placed on the practice squad-injured list.

NY Giants without guard Chris Snee and safety Michael Johnson as they return to practice
By Mike Garafolo/The Star-Ledger
December 09, 2009, 11:37AM
safety Michael Johnson remains out of practice but could return soon if he shows progress during light drill work Wednesday.
Here’s the rundown of the Giants’ injury report as they return to practice:
RB DJ Ware (concussion) has been cleared to return to practice.
RG Chris Snee (knee) will not practice Wednesday. Snee has been categorized as “day-to-day” and coach Tom Coughlin remains hopeful Snee will be ready for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. His “hyperflexed” knee is something he’ll have to manage – perhaps for the rest of the season.
S Michael Johnson (groin) will not practice but will work on the side to give the team’s trainers and medical staff an indication of how far along he is.
TE Travis Beckum (groin) will practice. Coughlin said he was a part of the game plan this past week, but the injury obviously prevented him from playing.
Coughlin was not asked about RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankles/foot) but it’s likely he won’t practice, as he hasn’t worked on a Wednesday for quite some time.
12:08 p.m. UPDATE I take that back. Bradshaw is practicing Wednesday. Wow.
QB Eli Manning (foot) should be fine, especially since he showed no ill effects from sprinting down the field the other day on Bradshaw’s long run.
* * * *
For the Eagles, WR Jeremy Maclin (foot) will not practice Wednesday but should be able to go for Sunday.
RB Brian Westbrook (knee/concussion) and WR DeSean Jackson (concussion) will practice.

A lot of their fans may act as degenerates, but hats off to Andy Reid for getting a 3 year contract extension. The guy has logged 100 wins this decade and done a commendable job this year keeping his club on top despite a ton of injuries and in the face of alot of criticism from unreasonable and unloyal eagle fans. More importantly Reid has accomplished all of this while putting his family's needs and his boys caught up in drug addictions, as a top priority. He may coach the enemy, but a good effort is a good effort and I applaud it . Of course, I wanna beat his team into submission this week and a HEALTHY NYG team will do just that......well maybe not that bad. Do you find this valuable?

RR; still trying to figure your insight out after 11 months! While you're listening to W-ELI in stereo, lemme give you some visuals. Eli Manning's Dec./Jan. record at Giants Stadium in 14 career games is 5-9!, including 15 interceptions in those 14 games. ... Comp. %: 51.9! ... Passer rating: 69.8!.. Eli is a decent orator and seems like a sincere guy, but once again, there is no covering up his poor performances in the Meadowlands and his inability to carry a team when needed most. ["Just make sure your mechanics are correct because any kind of flutter on the ball, it's going to die," Carr said. "If you can get a nice spiral it's not going to affect it that much." That's why Giants quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer devised a drill when he was coaching in college in the Northeast in the '70s and '80s in which he instructed his quarterbacks to lie on their dorm room floor and throw the ball at the ceiling. They could tell if they threw it with a perfect spiral, because the ball would leave a dot. Manning said Wednesday he hadn't tried that drill yet, nor has he sought out advice from Phil Simms or any other quarterback who has successfully navigated the winter elements at Giants Stadium in the past"] nydailynews today. Manning, E., is 6-6 vs Gulls and 0-2 in playoffs versus same. continued...post #12 Do you find this valuable?

Last week in a must win and same stadium, he was once again average at BEST. He made a nice improvise by flipping the ball to Boss on his way to the ground and his pass to SS in the endzone shoulda been a TD. His TD passes to BJ and Nicks were all Nicks and BJ! Eli missed a wide open Smith for a TD by underthrowing him by 10 yards. I am still awaiting (almost 6 YEARS NOW) for our QB to play 4 or 5 real good games in a row vs quality opponents, and show he is worthy of ANY mention of best NYG qb ever or worth my vote for MVP, Phillip Rivers, 3 draft picks and the US Mint! My perspective on him at this point is still exactly the same as it has been..... a bit better than average QB that has cashed in big on sirname, tremendous supporting cast and pass protection, an aggressive defense and the fact that Asanti Sanuels dropped a sure INT, the play before Manning's infamous Hail Tyree! (go ahead, hit the rewind button) If we are to beat the dirty Birds, our QB will have to lead us to victory like GREAT QB's do each and every week in the NFL. A 300 yard game and QB rating like he had vs Raiders, Bucs, Chiefs early in the season would be just fine with me. Go Eli, Go Giants! Do you find this valuable?

Guard Chris Snee and safety Michael Johnson back to practice for NY Giants
By Mike Garafolo/The Star-Ledger
December 10, 2009, 12:16PM
The Giants did an injury flip-flop at practice Thursday, welcoming back G Chris Snee (knee) and S Michael Johnson (groin) but sending RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot/ankles) back to the sideline after he worked Wednesday.
Snee “hyper-flexed” his knee in Sunday’s victory over the Cowboys and his status was “day-to-day,” according to coach Tom Coughlin. Tests conducted on Monday revealed no major damage in the joint and Snee was expected to play on Sunday against the Eagles. The fact he’s back to practice Thursday is a good indication he will play.
Johnson, meanwhile, said he did little “explosion” work Wednesday and was hoping to do some on Thursday. He also believes he will play. Bradshaw had a rare Wednesday practice and was not wearing a boot on the sidelines Thursday. He’s also expected to play.
Down in Philly, Eagles special teams coach Ted Daisher says WR DeSean Jackson (concussion) will return punts on Sunday. Guess that means he’s playing, as he had said he would.

The Browns beat the Steelers, The Browns beat the Steelers, The Browns beat the Steelers. Nope, saying it still does not help believe it! Hats off to Josh Cribbs and the no monika helmet group from Cleveland. Giant fans have much less to lament over when contrasting the 6-7 Steelers. Once again we see that injuries,100% EFFORT, and a confident swagger from EVERY player that steps in between the lines has much to do with the outcome of a game. Sometimes even more than talent! Reading today's NY Post is encouraging that Big Blue has gotten their confidence back.....Jacobs has gotten his swagger back. Eli & Webster due to get theirs back this week!

Everybody is practicing today in the cold and the wind on the outdoor field. DB coach Peter Giunta and DE Osi Umenyiora were in shorts.(nydailynews) WOW, who would have thunk it a week ago, that getting "time on the pine" would have had this effect on Osi? Not me, but either he has lost some scruples or he is showing his team the mindset necessary for the upcoming nasty weather and epic battle they face in less than two days......GO GIANTS! Getting "heated up" in 85 degree S. Florida! LOL Ali C, hope things are going well; we know you are following board and pulling for Big Blue, Big Time this week; we miss ya. NJ.com reports
A look ahead to NY Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles By Mike Garafolo/The Star-Ledger
December 11, 2009, 1:54PM PLAYERS TO WATCH:
In three games against the Eagles since the Plaxico Burress incident, QB Eli Manning has been dreadful. Combined, his stat line is 48-for-95 for 514 yards, 2 TDs and 4 INTs. That computes to a passer rating of 56.2. Yes, the absence of the Eagle-killing Burress is a big factor for Manning’s woeful performances, but in talking to experts and football people who watched the tape of the playoff game (including a couple inside the Giants organization), Manning had open receivers all day long and just didn’t see them or didn’t hit them. He had a horrendous day and could have easily turned that game into a Giants victory. And you or I don’t need football people to tell us how bad Manning was the last time he faced the Eagles. He slipped into full panic mode, telegraphing the pass to TE Travis Beckum that was picked off by Eagles CB Asante Samuel and firing way high of TE Kevin Boss and WR Sinorice Moss up the middle of the field. (An astute commenter said the aggressiveness of Samuel and the rest of the Eagles’ DBs could be exploited with double-moves. We’ll see if the Giants use any.)
No more joking around, Eli. This team needs you now. You’re the franchise QB, you’re the $106.9-million man and you’re “Easy E.” Time to act like it, put these guys on your back and lead a W. If you can’t, you’re going to get hammered by the media and the fans. Trust me."

[I truly hate to keep harping on his weaknesses but I AM glad it's not just me that sees the obvious! We need Eli to play like a #1 pick to win...it's that "EASY". last sentence mine.]

I hate to interrupt this lovefest G11 is throwing for boy wonder, but...Eagles RB Brian Westbrook will not play on Sunday. WR Kevin Curtis is listed has doubtful for the Eagles. Eagles WR Maclin may only be available to return kicks. I think the keys to victory in this game for the Giants is underneath passing to the TE and a better perfomance from the running game than we are used to seeing as of late. Take some of the burden of of the $106 million dollar man. I expect a high scoring ballgame. Do you find this valuable?

game time forecast; freezing rain and 29 degrees; wind is a gimme. Den, my dear friend and partner in "Blue" collar crime, I know you are like Jimmy the Greek on steroids, when it comes to picking the winner of our GGGGGmen contests, but this "cat" will take the under 45 all day long. LOL Now if Eli throws for 350 and we score another 31 and beat the Gulls 31-17 and blow the under out of the Meadowlands, I'll still buy you a beer X 24. Unitil then, make sure your fridge is stocked with suds! Do you find this valuable?
