Week 13, Dallas
Nov 30 2009, 12:07 PM EST | Post edited: Nov 30 2009, 12:07 PM EST
The Giants host the Dallas Cowboys at home this week, It will be the last game (barring a playoff matchup) between the Giants and the Cowboys in Giants stadium. Let's go out with a bang! The Giants are coming off a humiliating loss to the Broncos. The Cowboys are coming off a win against the hapless Raiders. Injuries on the Giants has of now: QB Eli Manning has another injury to same foot, brought on supposedly due to compensating for injury in heel of same foot. Backup QB David Carr will see extended reps with fist team offense. HB Ahmad Bradshaw has injuries to both feet. He missed to Broncos game and should be ready to go for Dallas. His return is crucial, because his backup, HB DJ Ware suffered a concussion in the last game. MLB Antonio Pierce is out indefinitely, more than likely the season with a neck injury. Although MLB Chase Blackburn has played sufficiently in his absense, the Giants want to see Jonathan Goff playing there. Goff is more athletic than Blackburn, however he's not yet ready to make defensive adjustments like Blackburn can. S Michael Johnson may miss Cowboys game with injury sustained in Denver. S C.C. Brown would start in his spot. This is a must win game for the Giants if any thoughts of salvaging what was an season of high expectations exists. Do you find this valuable?

IF Carr does indeed get the nod his mobilty should allow offense a few more options and deter teams to stack box and blitz as often as they have. We can call QB draws and roll the pocket with Carr. What we need most IMO, is to get the message across that no jobs are 100% secure; the past is the past, Pro Bowlers included. BJ needs to hear that as does Osi. I watched that debacle again and what I noticed is how many times Denver ran right at Osi, over and over and he could not provide any resistance....no excuse for that. BIG BLUE fans attending this "do or die" game, will not allow that "bit@h brigade" that happened against broncos to happen in the Meadowlands vs the hated Cowboys. Anyone that has been there knows there will be hell to pay and things thrown at players if they allow the cowboys to crap all over us. Giant management MUST KNOW it at this point that these next two games (at least) have MANY future implications attached to it, including selling seats & rediculous PSL's for new stadium. I am certain, this week will not be a hand holding experience for our players and coaches but one of strictly business and NYG pride. I still stubbornly believe we have the talent to play good football and make the playoffs.(not SB, but playoffs) We played injured and beat a decent Cowboy team over there as well as close games vs pretty good Cardinal and Bolts teams. DESIRE, PRIDE and the WILL TO WIN. We will see who our true leaders are, if any. Just as I did last game, I am spotlighting our DT's. I do not believe their talent level has dropped off that quickly; I believe they are discontent with coaches and going about wanting change the wrong way. Like all of you, I am down, but not OUT just yet. Let's get this board lit up gang. We have all been through MUCH worse with our NY FOOTBALL GIANTS To quote the poet Dylan Thomas, "DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT" Do you find this valuable?

The Giants defensive captain, MLB Antonio Pierce was placed on IR this afternoon. A Neck injury has forced him to miss rest of season. No news has of yet about possible roster move. Chase Blackburn has played last two games in his place. Do you find this valuable?

It's a shame that a gladiator like Pierce must accept his "fate" if you will and go out like this. In all likelihood, his storied career is over. Herniated disks do not heal; you manage them and the pain they bring along the cervical spine. (Ive got two of them) Pierce was not taken in the 2001 NFL Draft after his senior year at Arizona because many NFL scouts considered him too undersized to play linebacker in the NFL. He was signed as a rookie free agent by the Redskins and eventually patroled the middle of our defense commendably since 2005. I have been tough on him recently, but he was an emotional leader and left everything on the field game after game. He proved all his doubters wrong and played at a high level in the NFL. If this the end of his time in BLUE, I say thanks for the memories and I wish him well. Do you find this valuable?

Any ideas who NYG will add to the 53 man roster in AP's absence? Will we finally get a look at 6'-6" Ramses Barden and his potential for Giants to score 6 instead of 3 in the Red Zone? Whatta you all think? BTW, has anybody heard from the "ALI shuffle" recently? Do you find this valuable?

No word out of N.Y. has to roster moves. The Giants do not have a LB currently on the practice squad. The Giants can however claim off of another teams practice squad, so that is an option. The giants do have several DB's on the practice squad. The injury to S Michael Johnson may weigh in the decision. There is not a time limit to add someone, although the sooner they get signed the more practice time. Todays betting line is listed has a pick'em. Interesting article in Sporting News Today has Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin has top five pick for Notre Dame job. I personally hope it's all rumor, do not want to see Coach Coughlin go anywhere. I've got mixed feelings on the prospect of seeing Coughlin leave us anytime soon; it would surprise me to see him leave the Pro ranks for a college gig, even with the notariety that comes from Notre Dame. I have always said that if I had one coach I would have loved to play for, it would be Bill Cower. There's something I dig about his hard nosed style. If he were at all interested in coaching in a similar venue as he did in Pittsburg, I'd be as happy as could be for our NYG football future. Do you find this valuable?

Coach Coughlin said today among the many shortcomings has of late the main concerns are running the ball and stopping the run. In the first five games, all victories the Giants averaged 158 yds rushing a game. In the six games since, losers of five of six, the average is down to 98 yds rushing a game. Last week in Denver was season low of 58 yds rushing. In Coughlins Giants career his teams are 40-19 when rushing for 100 yds or better, 13-19 when teams dont rush for 100. Including Jacksonville years his record is 91-49 when teams rush for 100, 30-49 when they don't. Defensively, the Giants under Coughlin are 24-29 when teams rush for more than a 100 yds per game. 29-9 when under 100 yds per game. Overall, Coughlin is 59-71 when giving up over 100, 62-27 when the defense holds opponent under 100. Brandon Jacobs at this point last season had rushed for 879 yds., had 5.4 yds per carry and 11 touchdowns. This season Jacobs has 683 yds.,3.9 carry and only 3 touchdowns. Backup Ahmad Bradshaws numbers are nominal to the man he replaced in Derrick Ward. The Giants hav'nt had a rush of over 25 yds. in eight straight games. The Giants clearly need to improve on rushing numbers on both sides of ball remainder of season. Do you find this valuable?

Someone tell Tiki to bring his mouthpiece, j/strap and shoulder pads! Reports out of NY, indicating Ware & Bradshaw unlikely to play Sunday. Likely NYG will sign a RB by day's end. Dominick Rhodes & TJ Duckett are names being thrown around. Another name coming up is Alan Patrick, currently on Jax practice squad. Also Boley (back) and Hagan (hammy) are nursing their own injuries and may not practice this afternoon. Goff practicing @ MLB with 1st team today!!! Lots of challenges stacking up for Big Blue, but not to worry, somehow this team will be ready................What a time for the old Jacobs to make an appearance! Do you find this valuable?

Jonathan Goff appears to be NY Giants' new starting middle linebacker; according to nj.com. Here is the link: http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2009/12/jonathan_goff_appears_to_be_ny.html
I for one, am excited at this prospect of new blood injecting new life into our defense. Let's hope he takes full advantage of the opportunity.

RB DJ Ware (concussion) has officially been ruled "out" for Sunday. Gartrell Johnson will be at least the 3rd, maybe the 2nd RB, according to nj.com. Still anticipating NYG signing a RB today, although it will not be Rhodes. Duckett still in running but AP still the odds on favorite. Do you find this valuable?

The Giants did'nt sack Tony Romo in week 2. He has been sacked at least once in every game except the Giants game. Romo has been sacked 22 times this season, the most in his career. The Cowboys have allowed 1 rushing TD on the road all season. The Giants defense has allowed 33 offensive TD's this season through 12 games. Giants defense allowed 36 TD's total all of last season. Thinking back to my prediction that this defense had the potential to be one of the best in Big Blue history, I am feeling ill. Yes, we've had some key injuries and a new coordinator, but the stat that you post den, is too much to handle. I do like what I'm hearing from NYG practice this week. Sheridan is challenging his players individually as well as corporately by inferring D is soft. Tuck seems anxious to prove him wrong as much as he wants a piece of soccer star goalie Flozell Adams. Osi is being shown, he is not beyond reproach. I have a feeling we'll see a lot more of Simtin this week also. Ross and Canty have had time to get back in competetive football mode, which should help. On offense, the interior front 3 must find a way to block Ratliff and Spencer, two outstanding defensive players imo if we have a chance to run the football. All indications show Bradshaw being ready to play; that might keep NYG from signing anonther RB, which has been expected since it appeared AB would not be ready. TC, a normally stubborn, "live or die" with original blueprint type of coach, seems ready to do and use whatever/whoever to keep this season alive........I'm feeling it Big Blue Believers.....R U? BREAKING NEWS! Bradshaw practicing today. Onto the DL: Osi working w 2nd tm base Defense. Also Robbins bumped to 2nd team as well. In their place: Canty (DT) +Kiwi (DE).WOW!!! IMO, this is exactly the message some of our prima-donnas needed to hear. Johnson still out of practice; looks like CC is our starting safety vs Boys; not crazy about that news, but a guy as fast as he is has got to have a good game in him somewhere!! LOL Do you find this valuable?

I really don't think Coach will go to ND, Weis has ruined that program and it will be very difficult to get any freshman players; much the sameas my alma mater, Syracuse. They would have to offer him a lot of millions to take on that program and I don't think at this point they can afford it. Also, Coughlin is to proud to leave the Big Blue after the way this season panned out. I'm not saying we're out of the running but at this point it really doesn't look that great. We really need to beat the Cowboys and the nose picker to even begin to think of salvaging the season. If we beat the Cowboys, then the Eagles and the 'skins will be next on the block. They are all division games and we need/have to win them to have a chance. So I'm with my Big Blue all the way. I stuck with them for 25 years without a glimmer of a playoff game and I will do it again. I've been with them for 55 years and I won't quit on them now. Do you find this valuable?

If Coughlin leaves, so do Gilbride and Sheridan. That would be a big step in the right direction.
