NY fans to get their "PHIL"

What a week to be a NY fan! First the Pinstripers return to the World Series to play the Philadelphia Phillies, after an extended absence; at least for them. Next, NYG gets the opportunity to exact their pound of flesh vs their hated rivals who knocked them out of last year's playoffs. NY Daily News has a good read and reminder of D.McNabb picking up the phone on the Giant sideline and rubbing their underdog win in the face of Big Blue and their home fans. This fan is anxious to see just how determined our guys are to play like that playoff game truly haunted them. Football experts saying to expect more of the same from Eagirls battered defense. Stack the LOS and make NYG qb beat them with his arm. Thankfully, we may not have to face GIANT killer, Brian Westbrook, who is still trying to remember his ABC's after getting whacked and sustaining a concussion. Looking at the injuries, strengths & weaknesses of both teams, and the under/over, perhaps weather permitting, we see a shootout instead of the typical smashmouth, hard hitting games we've come to expect from this rivalry. Let's hope our jolly "green" GIANTS (Beaty, Nicks, Mario and other newbies) are prepared for the magnitude and intensity of this epic battle.......NYG, NYGhttp://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/2009/10/27/2009-10-27_new_york_giants_want_to_exact_revenge.html Do you find this valuable?

Few notes on Eagles-Giants game. Time has been changed due to World Series being played in Philly on same day. Start time was 4:15, now 1:00. Coach Coughlin expressed today working on the offense, addressing three keys to improvement this week, recognition, communication, and rhythm. Coach Coughlin also emphazised winning the field position battle, which the Giants did'nt do against the Cardinals. Giant wide receivers should have an impact on this game. The Eagles play a lot of man to man. Has gmen11 has pointed out, expect 8 men on the line of scrimmage to stop the run. Tackle Kareem Mackenzie should be ready to go for Sunday but Beatty will be ready if KM can't go.

Giants defense is still ranked #1 in yards allowed. 16th in scoring defense. #2 against the pass, despite last two games. Jacobs is 5th in NFC and 8th in NFL in rushing. Jacobs has not rushed for over 100 yards a game in 12 consecutive games. Steve Smith is #1 in the NFC and 2nd in the NFL with 45 receptions. Smith is also #1 in the NFC and 3rd in the NFL in receiving yards, 594. Tynes leads league in points with 69. Hakeem Nicks was just announced Rookie of Month for October.

Eagles defense is ranked #7 overall. 11th against the run. 9th against the pass. Betting line at this post is now Eagles -1, o/u 44 points. Giants own 4 game road win streak against Eagles. Both have lost to the Saints this season.

Ahmad Bradshaw saw a specialist yesterday, broken bone in his foot is the diagnosis. A recurring ankle injury has been to blame in the past weeks. Bradshaw confident he can play with the injury, no word from Giants.

Another bad hoof? Make sure you don't buy whatever brand of shoes, he and Eli wear! LOL Says something for this kid's dedication to his game and his team. You can be SURE, some of the cridders in green will be taking some shots at Bradshaw's injury if they get the chance. Would hate to lose him in any event. Hope Ware's on the mend soon.

After the last two weeks, I get the very uneasy feeling that I'm watching the Giants' season disintegrate before my very eyes. It doesn't make me eager to watch them play in Philly.

parlay that with the fact that McNabb has been throwing the rock lately like he might actaully be LEFT-handed and is due for a good game! We have to face the fact that the defense we have enjoyed the past few years is not the same as it was. There is a chance that with Ross, Canty & Boley close to returning , it could help immensely. Until then, it's "EASY"; our million dollar QB must get back to burning the defenses that play to stop the run and our O-line get back to being uglier and start pancaking people again! Great qb's lead their teams to victory and WIN BIG games. I'm with ya on this one jher, but this really is the right team for us to play at this exact moment in time to get a handle on who we really are and where we measure up to the rest of the league. IF we win this one and go back home with a renewed confidence, a few more good healthy players and beat the Bolts, we could go into the bye week @ 7-2, (3-0) & in 1st place in East! We can all live with that I am certain! BIG BIG game this week----have I mentioned that? If you hadn't noticed the Pokes are getting healthy and much better also......

There is no doubt in my mind that this weeks game is the Bell Weather game for my G-Men. I read all the posts, and papers (Daily News, Post, Newsday; local rags of second tier value like the Observer, etc. and watched all the shows on ESPN, and the Giants weekly team show with Bob P., plus cruising the net, and this very own site...) and from what I've witnessed these last couple of weeks, I'm not feeling as confident about this game as I would like to. Winning this game re-affirms the Giants as the Team-to-Beat in the NFC East--clearly. However, it also has severe Playoff implications as many pre-season pundits had picked the Feebles to win the NFC East (Idiots ...I say). I like the Giants to win, and I want them to win, yet something is nagging me about this game and I have a very uneasy feeling that we are coming home 5-3. The Giants NEED to win this game for so many reasons, but amongst the most important is the 3-0 East record. No one ever wins the NFC East with a losing record, or even with a 3-3 record. Secondly, the Feebles are a talented team, and we need to measure up against them, Thirdly, the playoff implications. Fourthly, the NFC Conference records; ie., both the Feebles and G-Men lost to the Saints, so if any tie-breakers are needed at that point our wins over the Feebles could gives us the wild-card ticket and send the feebles home for the holidays. And lastly, we need to win to snap the 2-game losing streak. I don't want any negitive momentum going into the stretch run (November) AND I want to get to the bye week @ 7-2, which isn't bad for any NFL team these days. We'll see the Saints again, I think we all know that, hopefully not in New Orleans, but that would take a miracle it looks like, but we don't need to see Philly again in the playoffs, and this weeks game is a huge nail in their coffin/season.

Alright, I'm relieved to know that I am not the only one who has an uneasy feeling about this upcoming game. I believe the Giants are the better team. We made the upgrades on the D-line for McNabb and Romo. The Giants should win this game. I cannot however get past the two previous losses. It's not that they lost, it's how they lost. If they lose to the Eagles despite playing their game, I can live with that. If the Giants PLAY their best game, they'll win, I can live with that more. Go Giants!

I can't get game on tv, which is good because smashed radios are cheaper to replace. I think if anyone says anything more about the Giants will be fine, it's just an anomily, should be considered myopic and possibly banned. This Giants team is in serious trouble, don't want to hear fairy tales! Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining!!! It's only halftime 30-7! Embarrassment!

well giantsgirl1,...I like to think not. Nor do I want it to be over, but ....we need more wins then losses right now, and the G-Mens toughest part of the sced comes up AFTER the bye week. Next weeks game is a tough one and thankfully its at the Meadowlands. But 5-4 is NOT acceptable for this caliber of team. Maybe for the Jets, but not The New York Football Giants.

Look guys - Strahan said it best I think: they are lacking urgency. They all look dead out there - all, for the most part - few exceptions. When I was at the game last week it just looked that way. Very few of them seemed to have the peddle to the metal and Eli looks like he is stuck in his head thinking too much rather than trusting and going. They even looked lax on the pre-game warm-up field. No clue what's gotten into them. Meanwhile, have I mentioned how much I LOVE Hakeem Nicks lately? (for those of you who dealt with me on this topic through draft). :) Do you find this valuable? |

O'hara mentioned what he called the assumption factor " You're success's in the past and the fact that you've always bounced back from a loss, has left this team assumming that would happen." We all no what happens when you assume... If Giants lose next week, Giants won't make playoffs!

I knew you would turn around on Nicks, Ali. Speaking of dead.......I've decided what we saw on the field were hollagrams, not actual players. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.This team can turn around......den you are right NO assuming Do you find this valuable? |
