Why Are You the 'World's Biggest Giants Fan'?
Oct 17 2009, 6:38 PM EDT
Okay guys and gals, in honor of one of our new friends here on the site who claimed he is the 'world's biggest Giants fan', I'd love to see how many interesting pitches we can get for why YOU are the 'World's Biggest Giant's Fan' - and by 'biggest, I don't really mean BIG (like fat), cause then some of us couldn't play, but I do mean, why are you the most dedicated, or the most passionate, the most crazy, or the most fanatical Giants fan of all? I am sure we all have some good stories - so lay it out - I don't think there are winners or losers here cause I bet all the stories are pretty good. But lay it out as if there were a winner and you were playing for the Superbowl of Giants' fans! I'll play too - I just need to run right now, so I'll chime in a bit later. Do you find this valuable?

Okay Ali , picture this , I live in the fingerlakes , Geneva NY (Bills Central ) about 2 hrs from Rich Stadium . The night before our 1991 Superbowl with The Buffalo Bills , one of my best friends who plays in a rock band was at the mic rallying the fans . I was outnumbered about 150 to maybe 5 when I approach the stage and grab the mic and start giving the thumbs down to the Bills and shouting "Lets go Giants , Let's go Giants" You can imagine the boos I was getting and the tempers that were flaring as I was relentless in my heckling Hee Hee ! ;-) My friend in the band leans over to me after about two or three minutes and says "Taz, You're killin me here " , but I was full of tangueray and didn't care . all my friends know how much I Love the Giants . I finally put the mic down and give the fist up sign and casually strolled off the stage in my NY Giants jacket . It was Beautiful. ! The next day my brother and I and one other guest were the only Giants fans at another good friends Superbowl party as Scott Norwood missed wide right and my brother and I jumped up and high five'd and whooped it up as everyone in the room stood silent in shell shocked disbelief and some of the ladies there were even crying ! What a weekend !!!! From what I read here , we are all the biggest Giants fans! Even those of us who can't make it to the stadium . Do you find this valuable? |

I was 14, in Atlanta airport, saw a crowd, tried to avoid.... Knew of the Giants from my Dad. Pepper Johnson took my arm to take me from crowd..... What a teddy bear , have been into them since. Then las t year at training camp met Eli, , have autographed ball. For the record, was an Eli fan prior..

Those are great stories guys - I want to hear more! I have so many, and many of you know my old Joe Morris story so I won't go into it again. My Giants world started when I was born in Brooklyn and my gramps and mom, dad and aunt were super into the Giants. But there are so many stories as I grew up that brought me closer. I'll just hit on one or 2 for now. A short but great one is just knowing my grandpa, who was always a season ticket holder, who had waited a lifetime to see the Giants in the Superbowl and had dedicated himself through the bad days of the 70s, who was always loyal, finally got to see the Giants win the Superbowl in 1987. He passed away from cancer only a few months later. I always felt there was some greater reason the Giants won - in part for this wonderful man. And I carry on the tradition he started.More recently, most of you know I live in California. I've been in Cali since '92 and have always remained loyal to my Giants. I get my game somehow - if I don't have DTV that week, I watch via cell, laptop or Siruis NFL Radio - I don't like missing my game! I am a VERY superstitious Giants fan - VERY, since way back. In the early days, I had to watch the game in a separate room from my parents because the Giants always seemed to win when I did that. Today, I have many superstitions I need to uphold, and to be frank, it's a little nuts. If I start the game standing and the Defense plays well, I need to remain standing (like the Green Bay game last year). If I am sitting down or make a certain comment and Eli is having a great drive, I gotta keep it up! I have to comment on specific players before each play (as if somehow the karma in the air will make them play better). Back in the old days, that Joe Morris card needed to come out of my wallet and it needed to be used to place VooDoo on the other team while I was watching! LOL! More later.
