lots of interesting conversation on this contract on Sirius this morning with Adam Schein and Rich Gannon. They definitely think it was the right thing for the right guy, who is a perfect fit for the Giants. However, there was also a lot of spirited NFC East 'Who is the Best QB' discussion between Gannon and the callers. Gannon back peddled a bit cause he said he felt Romo, McNabb and then Eli was the order! (then he had to qualify it was his 'feeling' looking into the crystal ball on potential for the future as opposed to past proof). I'll keep Eli. Do you find this valuable?

McNabb is clearly the #1 in the East, hate to say it.All three are inconsitent.Eli got the money so I'm pretty sure his position on the list won't bother him.Still has'nt returned my calls!!!LOL! Do you find this valuable?

I think it was the right time for the Giants, however I never expected that amount. I understand it is 35 million guranteed but aside from that you know how contracts go in the NFL. I think this will help the team and obviously Eli. I cannot see how McNabb is ahead of Eli in the division. I also think that Eli is about to pass Romo if he did not already. The market is now set! All you other QBs out there start calling your GM's and get them sweating. I hate the Eagles, but I have to admit that other than 5 straight great games in 2007, to me McNabb is better than Eli. (at this point) McNabb has the great body of work, but Eli has that all-elusive ring Donovan needs to push himself up past Van Broklin in Philly.
I am still trying to figure out the whole "Romo is great" thing. Great at what? What has he accomplished? Tony is to me a middle-tier QB with talent, but now heart to bring his team to the next level. Too much hollywood and pop music in his brain the last few years.
Good for Eli though, it was a tough road in this town for him up till the "NE is perfect" game in 2007. Then after the "almost perfect" game in February 2008, he was forever gold.

I agree on the Romo thing Kotar - as I said, there was a lot of 'spirited' conversation on that topic the other day - and after a few calls, Gannon back peddled a bit. He qualified that his choice was more from gut on future potential and what's to come than proof from the past. Romo has some solid potential and certainly his personal moves in the recent offseason should help (unfortunately), but he still has to prove that he can win when it counts. For that, Eli has done that against the Dallas, Green Bay, Tampa, and of course the Pats - and then some.

Meanwhile, I wonder how and if the big Eli contract will mess with Donovan's head... ;)

Donovan'h head has to be swirling by now. If you add up the Eagle fan & media machine, the T.O. stuff he had for 2 seasons, and now the fact that he BEAT Eli in the playoffs twice, and now has to face him as the highest paid QB in football has to be a distraction. Do you find this valuable?

distraction, hmmm, here's a guy already worth over $100 million dollars, i say he could care less about what Eli makes in the long term. sure Mcnaab is contract hungry and will use Eli's as a gauge for his NFL value but distraction, last time I checked $100 million helps keep your focus on what you have right now. if Donovon plays like he can, his money will come just like it did for Eli...biggest problem with Romo is he plays in the rugged NFC East where he could be under .500 this year after he loses twice to the Giant and also to the Eagles and Skins! 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Has of this post, Eli Manning has NOT yet signed his new contract. 97.5 million with 35 million guranteed. Apparently his agent and lawyers are still reviewing it. Both Eli and Jerry Reese are confident that he'll sign it soon. Hold up appears to be marketing issue. Eli is a spokesman for Citizen watches and Giants new corporate sponsor on training facility is Timex. Giants want a right of first refusal clause for future and Eli wants to market himself to whomever he wants. Giants and Eli currently using different marketing companies. Oh he signed it alright! Question is can the Giants get a refund! At yesterday's postgame confessional, Eli pointed out his many sins and stated " I've got to play better!". Understatement of the year! 95 million! Worth every penny! Do you find this valuable?
