Tony Romo
Jul 10 2009, 7:37 PM EDT | Post edited: Jul 10 2009, 7:38 PM EDT
Hey Giant Fans, let's put down some thoughts about Tony Romo in this thread so we can back up Brandon Jacobs, one of the Giants most popular players, he has some juicy quotes here:

http://www.comcast.net/sports/russakoffrules/30228/plushestoonicetohomelesspeople/

No sense looking past game 1, however, game 2 in Dallas just got amped up a bit more. The Giants D will come ready to play against the Cowboys O and show that Romo is a pocket passer only, right!

I'm not sure what BJ is watching,Romo scares me,assuming Jacobs is right, does it matter? He doesn't have to chase him!Romo spends more time moving in pocket, does most of his throwing on the move. The Giants D-line chases this guy and he throws completion after completion. If he's such a poor pocket passer then why does every team try to force him out of pocket?8+yds an attempt is 4th behind Sid Luckman,Otto Graham, and Norm VanBrocklin(and they never dated Jessica!).BJ says he more lucky than good,I think he's a little of both. I was at the game on Jan 7, 2007 when Romo fumbled the Cowboys extra point vs the Seahawks and lost the playoff game to continue Dallas not making the play-off's which dates all the way back to 1996! Fun Game!! We'll see without TO whether he can make it happen on his own. He seems like a mobile QB but I don't watch enough film to know his tendencies out of the pocket. Den, those are some serious NFL names you dropped, nice! Do you find this valuable?

that was the BEST play ever! I was rolling on the floor when Romo fumbled that ball!

Okay - let' put it this way Den - Romo can go either way - and during season, yes, he can be ON. The Cowboys do have assets (demarcus and whitten always without question). Clearly, BJ is one of our spirit and team leaders though, so hopefully he can psyche Romo out a little and he can find his way to fumbling a few more while the Giants' Super-D comes a'callin' (with a little more pass rush this year).

cmon Den!....the name drop and Jessica comment was Matt Mosleys from The Beast! (ESPN.com) Dont worry, I love his column too.
I would hestitate to suggest that the Giants make an effort to force Romo out of the pocket, for the same reasons listed above....hes mobile and passes well on the run. The fact is, when you pressure the Qb as well as the Giants defense does, a flushing out of the pocket is purely for self preservation. Hes getting chased down like a chicken wing in Oprahs dressing room!

AA,I never claimed the info just passed it on!...Ali and Roble,I will agree that he fumbles alot, carries the ball so he can throw it on the run.BJ said Romo was over-rated pocket passer.I think the jury is still out on that. The truth is the O-line in Big D sucks and he has to move.If he's so over-rated,then why did Big D lose the games he missed last year?I think he's the key to success in Big D so lets hope he get's hurt early in the season.Ali,I would love Ware and Witten both if they played somewhere else. I think BJ should leave the Romo commentating alone for now and just get ready to play football. Romo reminds me a lot of a young Brett Favre. A gun slinger that can make some big throws and big plays but doesn't seem to be overly concerned when he throws a pick or his team loses. Until now, the nock on him would be that he is not consistent or 100% committed to football, but he does have the tools to be a real good one imo. Do you find this valuable?

Den: I would love Ware and Whitten a lot more if they played somewhere else too. But on Whitten: I have just had too many years of being terrified of this guy getting near the ball not to admit he is as good a TE as he is. He is - and we need to prepare for him every time. On Ware: well, what can I say. Last year I not only saw his play on the field, but I also saw him on TV sitting on the floor singing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' to his little girl and I melted. It was the cutest thing ever! Do you find this valuable?

Did anyone else watch Romos fumble in 07' with any Cowboys fans? Now usually I feel the pain when i witness such a disheartening turn of events because we've all felt a similar sting (Trey Junkin's bad snap....2002 wild card game against San Fran 49's...insert single tear) but for so many reasons Romos botched hold still make me smile. gmen is right....hes just too blase'....loosy goosy with that silly little grin on his face all the time. It makes it seem like hes not hungry enough. Lets face it, its millions of young people's dream to play in the NFL....and he acts too much sometimes like hes at the movies with his buddies. Thats what seperates the real heroes at the position from the guys with just a good arm and decent feet. Do you find this valuable?

and from a gal's perspective - if any of you saw his girlfriend's outfit last week at the golf tournament... YUCK! No more daisy dukes for her. ;)

yes AA - I seriously smile when I think of that fumble - it was SO MUCH FUN! (and I'm not even a mean person!)

Ali,I agree with you assessments of Witten, has much as I hate to admit he's in my top three favorite TE's to watch.Romo's favorite target,Giant killer. After Romo, guy we should be gameplanning over! I just wish we did'nt have to play him twice a year! Do you find this valuable?

Witten reminds me of the next generation jay novacek, remember that "gamer" that beat us with big catches more times than I care to remember. I am wondering though if Wit's receptions will diminish somewhat with losing the deep threat and attention T.O. commanded . I think we will see the boyz in 09 take on more of the look of our Jints. The guys that scare me are Felix Jones and Marion Barber and me thinks we will get a steady dose of them this coming season and Romo will not be asked to fling the football around the field as much. Still, I believe we have the players to sweep em and if we are going to be the crem de la crem and beasts of the east, we MUST accomplish that feat. Bring it on!!! Do you find this valuable?

I read what Jacobs said but Romo is a good quarterback. When the Giants play the Cowboys I am always afraid he will be in top form which he can be at times. I just hope Jacobs has good games against the boys and the D gets to Romo Do you find this valuable?

The interception at the end by RW McQuarters with the next shot of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is priceless:
