Predict the NY Giants 2009 record
Jul 9 2009, 7:55 PM EDT
I predict the NY Giants go 10-6 overall playing in the rugged NFC East. This zany NFL fan predicts 13-3:http://history.giants.com/video/6564848/NFL+Season+Previews%3A+New+York+Giants What do you predict will be the Giants regular season record in 2009? 13-3 and homefield advantage throughout the play-off's the final year of present day Giants stadium would be special. I like the kids confidence!! Do you find this valuable? |

No less than 11-5 will be a disappointing season! Splitting home games with Dallas and Philly would be needed to accomplish that. Of course there will be the one game on the schedule (Browns last year) that looks like a sure thing and we'll puke. The Giants should be 4-2 after first 6 games. Schedule gets tougher after that.

Game 2 is in Dallas to open up the Cowboys brand new stadium. Talk about a key game for the GMen early in the year. Funny Den, no sure games in the parity driven NFL, u got that right!

I think that the Giants will go 11-5 for the season. I know the division is tough but I think that the team is ready to show us some good football

If the Giants collectively play with that chip on their shoulders they've been talking about for blowing a golden opportunity to be one of the few NFL teams to win back to back Super Bowls last season, we win 12 or 13 games in 09. We have more depth at every postion on the field except we lack some experience at the WR position. A healthy Osi and the new additions to our D-line make up for losing Plax and Amani, as long as Hixon, Nicks, Moss, and Smith play up to their more than capable abilities. Truth be told Plax only had 35 grabs for Big Blue in 08 for 4TD's and we still won 12 games w/o Osi and Strahan. Our bread and butter was running the ball and playing good defense. Beckham will add a new wrinkle in our Offense and should make us less predictable and more innovative on offense than we were last year. I can also see BJ and Bradshaw duplicating the 1000 yds each seasons that Ward and BJ did last year. Eli is the key for me. If he plays like he did at the end of 2007, especially on 3rd down conversions, NYG goes to Miami. A defense can only stop our running game IF they lack respect for the QB and the deep passing game and surround the LOS like the Eagirls did to us last year. Burn those safeties once or twice, they WILL drop back and that opens the running game and the opportunity to control the clock Gmen style!! This zany fan makes a bold prediction BUT without the Michael Jackson mask on like the kid in the video!!! Me thinks we schweeeep the boyz and the Skins and maybe we let the city of muggerly love win one of the two. Let's get ready to R-U-M-B-L-E.....

10-6, a good record to be sure, but one that might not be good enough to win the NFC East, or even a wild card spot!

This New York kid also predicts the Giants will go 10-6.http://history.giants.com/video/7357280/2009+NFC+East+Predictions Jherling, good call about the 2009 playoffs, I think a 10-6 record will make it but 11-5 will do it for sure! Pretty sure the 1972 Dolphins undefeated season will be ok. Do you find this valuable? |

"10-6, a good record to be sure, but one that might not be good enough to win the NFC East, or even a wild card spot!"10-6 may not win the NFC East if the Cowboys stay hot but you never know. A Wildcard spot is doable at 10-6. Do you find this valuable? |

RR, you're an incurable optimist. All things remaining equal, the three top Giants coaches will be fired at the end of the year. If the team somehow makes the playoffs, they will all be back next year.

Agree and disagree. Agree Roble is an incurable optimist. Disagree, If Coughlin makes changes to his staff, OC and DC, he'll be back. Playoffs or not. Agree that 10-6 is within reach, disagree that Giants can find a stepstool tall enough to reach it!

Nah, I have to disagree with the latest posts. I still feel 10-6 gets the G-Men nothing this year except a winning record. We need to win out. Dallas is not letting up, and Philly is right there too. We need the games we lost vs Arizona, and possibly vs Atlanta. We may not get any of those tie-breakers. We need to finish on a roll, and the butter on that roll is 7 games long. Win, and we're in. Lose some of those crumbs, and we're done. 12-4 or bust. I don't like 11-5 cuz that still leaves us losing a game to either one of the NFC East teams or the Carolina/Minny game. Carolina is done, but Minny (who may have it all wrapped up by then-and could sit the starters), is a game we need as wel for NFC Conference tie-breakers. 12-4, Win and in. Nothing less is acceptable, and these Giants are entirely capable of doing just that.

At best with the way the head coach and offensive coordinator is calling the game we might end up at 8-8. The team is playing with no fire, confidence or urgency and most definately not anything that ressembles a championship team.

" Eli is the key for me. If he plays like he did at the end of 2007, especially on 3rd down conversions, NYG goes to Miami. "Time for me to be accountable for my 12 or 13 win prediction made back on July 12th. Man it looked good early on huh, but I was wrong, mucho wrong none the less and I'll take the heat for it. I can probably make some valid arguments on why NYG will not win 12 games, but I choose not to, however I do want to comment on the portion of that post about Eli Manning. In our 4 losses our Offensive leader has 5 TD's vs. 6 INT's . His 3rd down completion % is 30%,26%,50%,35% respectively vs. N.O., Arizona, Philly, S.D.. In those 4 losses his yards per completion dropped significantly from 10+ yards per for the first 5 weeks/WINS, down to 6 yards per completion in our 4 LOSSES. Once again since I have joined this discussion board, I point out that Eli Manning is an inconsistant NFL QB. If you research the subject, you will find these GIANT fluxuations in his game, each and every year he's been in the league. Before he and our ferocious defense went on a 6 game winning streak at the end of 2007, Eli was absolutely deplorable. He may very well come out after the bye week and light it up as he did early in the season or STINK it up.....that is a GIANT problem; we don't know which guy shows up! I agree that a championship team needs a concerted effort from the entire team, but no team will win many championships with an inconsistant/inaccurate QB under center. I am not placing all the blame for our bottomimg out at his feet, but please look at the evidence and see that he is not the best NYG qb of all time, and not to be mentioned in the same breath as his brother. Eli has moments of brilliance scattered throughout an entire season while Peyton exudes greatness almost every game he plays and leads that offense to victory with his smarts, confidence, arm and preparation, no matter who he is throwing the ball to. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Even though I agree with you tremendously we also have to accept that the Giants Identity on the field has dissappeared on the offensive side of the ball. Are we a running team or a passing team either or our offensive line looks like they have been eating very well and doing little work. They can't creat a hole or hold back the defensive line to give Eli time to throw. He's to damn slow to be on the run.

In fairness to Eli, it's hard to be effective when the play calling is predictable, the offensive line is ineffectual in both pass blocking and moving the pile, and the pressure is on the offense when the D isn't stopping the opposition. The D looked better in the SD game, but it's currently impossible to replace Rich Seubert, who I feel is the prime suspect in the OL's failures.

19. RE: Predict the NY Giants 2009 record

were we predictable when he was 5-0 and had 2nd best QB rating in NFL? Why is it when things go south, it's everyone elses fault but our million dollar manning? First the newby receivers, the OC, then the RB's, now the line.........our OC has no creativity, we have established that fact, but this Giant offense is anything but as predictable as we have been in recent history. Someone said it best; our offense lost its indentity; are we a run or pass offense; that is not predictable imo. Truth is that as the competition got better, our QB could not keep up with defensive schemes and find the favorable matchups. Defenses now give him different pre-snap looks and he is as confused as Pats fans were last week when punter was not sent on the field on 4th down. If his first read that he stares at is covered he either forces the throw into coverage or takes a sack. His peripheral vision of the field lacks as does his abilty to throw the ball accurately. So if I'm reading things correctly, we need to upgrade our line, get rid of our OC, our RB's need to step it up, but our ineffective qb is just fine? Just look at the sharp drop off in his yards per completion....pads his % but does not get the job done. We all agreed that this was now Eli's offense and our success depended on him more this season than any other in his career. I was willing to applaud him loudly when we were lighting up the scoreboard and am just as willing to point out his flaws when he looks lost out there. Let's hope Dr. Jekyl shows up the remainder of the season and makes the lost looking qb eli "Hide" Go GIANTS
