From the program, a Tenth Anniversary Greetings To Our Fans, by Thos. J. McCarthy

The autumn air with cheers resounds
On Sundays at the Polo Grounds,
For there the GIANTS now hold sway, -
Another season's under way!
Since '25 they've aimed each Fall
To thrill you with their brand of ball,
Securing thus New York's support
With games of the most daring sort,
And now, upon this starting day,
It's really apropos to say
How much the team appreciates
You fans who come within our gates.
Each player's primed to play this year
The greatest games of his career;
In fact, they'll all be plenty sore
If they're not Champs of '34 -
BUT EVEN IF THEY'RE NOT ON TOP,
THEY'RE BOUND TO BE TOUGH GUYS TO STOP! Do you find this valuable?

If someone tried to use the word 'apropos' in today's 2009 program, most fans might not know what that means, excellent word though and thanks revmoran. I was imagining Jayzee singing this greeting as a rap to Giant fans, lol, change '34 to '09 (said O-nine), change the word 'sore' above that to 'fine' and it could work... Do you find this valuable?

It's very apropos that you would would point out that most fans would'nt know what apropos means,very apropos indeed. Do you find this valuable?
