Concerning the statements made about Eli being better than Payton. First of all if you are in the leage longer you should have greater numbers than Eli, if you do not you should not still be in the league. I still think Eli is in a better situation than Payton considering his time in the NFL. We can make a fair comparison of numbers when Eli plays more years in the league. No I am not Eli's wife I was just wondering if you are related to Payton.

First of all I agree that Simms should be in the Hall of Fame. Also Eli is not even close to being a quarterback like Simms. That said Eli is good at his position and although not one of the top five qbacks in the league I still think that he is on his way to be a great quarterback.

rbeblasr; yes, I'm the older Manning kid that is fortunate enough to have two younger bros that are loaded so I do not have to work! LOL Hey I apologize about the pipe comment; it was just a joke and my sense of humor. I never mean to hurt anyone on this site, unless it is that Bills fans stuttering something about how lucky we were to beat them in 1990 and even then, it is still in jest. As far as Peyton goes, his resume is unbelievable! He is a 9 time Pro Bowler and is approaching 50 thousand passing yards in only 11 years. His TD/INT ratio is one of the best all time. I place more emphasis on Pro Bowls and numbers than I do, SB rings, b/c now the teams defense, special teams and other variables come in to play. (See Marino, Kelly, Fouts, Tarkenton) As much as I loved Phil's mettle, he is not in the class of Peyton and I posted that in for objectivity sakes. Sir, Eli is no bum and I agree he's getting more polished, (his completion % was better last season). For me this year will tell alot about what a big part of his legacy will be. No offense meant!

Using this 2009 NFL 100 pasted below as a base, top 5 NFL QB's in 2009 will be:Payton at #1, Brady #2, Big Ben is #3 (QB and overall) Brees is #7 and Phillp Rivers is just under Eli at #16. Eli leads the next 5 QB's at #17, with McNaab at #23, Carson Palmer #25, Tony Romo #28 with Jay Cutler at #31. Interesting that the #11 ranked 2009 QB in the NFL goes all the way down to #64 and vet Kurt Warner. http://www.comcast.net/slideshow/sports-nfltop99/83/ I suspect Eli & the Kids will solidify his #17 ranking in 2009, he moves up in Giant lore and Simms makes the HOF! Interesting point RR.I like it.Maybe a lack of dependence on Plax and Amani will mean taking the lead.Addition by subtraction, like with Tiki and Shockey.Interesting,Verry interesting...

or maybe, just maybe, Den, it means a trade for Brandon Marshall might happen, maybe...another point, with all the kids playing Eli might want to listen to Phil and use a glove: http://history.giants.com/video/6217285/Super+Bowl+XLIII%3A+Phil+Simms+on+Kurt+Warner%27s+Gloves Do you find this valuable? |

When ice forms in hell,Gmen11 starts screaming what a great Qb Eli is,and the mothership returns will that happen!Maybe next off season but not this one!By declaring he wants a trade he lowers his trade value.Their not trading him for less than a #1 and he still has personal issues that need to be resolved.(Commissioners suspention)Not interested!!!Just got rid of one knucklehead, not taking someone else's knucklehead WR!Stop it you guys! I've had all I can stands,I can't stands no more! The Wr's we have in camp are the WR's we are choosing from.Roble, troublemaker! Peyton, not Payton, people!

Well said Popeye. After seeing those videos I say we cut Carr & bring Phil back as a back-up to model the gloves! Our WR's will shine this year or I'll declare "marshall law".........

Reading Sporting News today in regards to contract renegotiations with Eli Manning.Do not be surprised if he becomes one of the members of the $100 million dollar contract club! ($50 million guaranteed)Probably before season starts.

Use some of the "Timex" Sponsorship dinero and quietly get it done. It was just a matter of time before Corporate logo's made it onto jersey's. Standard fare in the high-priced world of Euro soccer. At Eli's current pay rate and future earnings, the Giants might soon have to sell Logo Insertion Rights on their Home game jerseys and not just the Practice one's! If that was the case, "OutBack" has yummy steaks and it sure would tempt fans to want a juicy one everytime any Giant player made a Big Play on TV or in new Giants Stadium!

This NFL Power Ranking has the Giants WR/TE corp at #28 out of 33: http://www.comcast.net/slideshow/sports-wrterankings/6/ Redskins come in at #19, Cowboys at #14 & the Eagles sit at #10. (The Jets are at #25.) Pretty sure #28 is much too low with the talent on paper the Giants have even though not one WR is over the age of 30. They must not have given starter TE Kevin Boss much credit or new H-Back Travis Beckum who's a Rookie. The Skins at #19 is way too high, Santana Moss is walking wounded all year, when he goes down it spells trouble. The Cowboys lose TO and earn #14, no way! Sure TE Witten is a huge factor but Roy Wiliams is no sure thang and it gets thin behind him. The Eagles at #10 have Rookies at TE, granted they are talented but they're still Rookies. Lot's of shifty speed at WR for Philly though. Thing is, the Giants are counting on the Kids far more than the Eagles in 2009... Do you find this valuable? |

I thought we all agreed that com-icalcast is to football what The Enquirer is to honest journalism. Does not matter what they say at the beginning of the season; but let's revisit their mess in January 2010. Big Blue has enough proven talent in Smith, Boss, and an improving kick returner turned WR in Hixon to compete with anyone in the NFL. Parlay that with the potential of a healthy Moss, and newcomers Nicks & Beckham and suddenly NYG has more tools than Tim Taylor. How we coordinate and create DECEPTION on offense is the bigger question for me than the talent Eli has to work with. I'd like to see more 1st down passing,(mostly 15yds and <, but once in a while, let it ride too) play action, and flanker screens than has been typical for our NYG offenses historically. It is no secret anymore how talented our offensive line and RB's are, so expect teams to game plan to stop our running game and challenge our QB to beat them alot. Eli MUST improve his 20+ yard throwing accuracy and have the freedom and confidence to use more audibles and we need to add a few end arounds to speedsters like Moss and Hixon to keep opposing defenses from digging in and stacking the LOS. IMO there is not a team in the EAST that has a WR that demands double coverage every down and I think our group will hold their own comparatively speaking with the rest of our division. Roble, I like Randle-El more than Santana, believe it or not. The defenses in the NFC East will all be in the TOP 5-10, with the exception of Dallas, so alot of games will come down to the 4th quarter; fewest turnovers, and 3rd down conversions. Gilbride needs to focus on using the talents our WR's/TE's and QB possess, rather than trying to make them in the Plax/Amani/ mold.

Wow,I couldn't have said it any better!A tool time reference,I'm starting to tear up,It's like a twin brother from another mother. That bump in/on the skull must be serious, might need a specialist.LOL!Really looking forward to this season.THE N.Y.GIANTS are stacked at almost every position.First time since '86 season I've had serious expectations.I'm putting the entire NFC east on notice(they're not reading this anyway)live in fear.Live in Fear!

den/Julius....you're my brother. (Devito:"yair, don't you see da resemblance) Since '86? What about our 1990 group Julius? Started the season 10-0, then after losing to sea gulls in Philly ( I was there in that cespool), we lost a close one to the 49ers in that Monday night classic where Simms got in Lott's face and gave him a head butt/kiss. I thought that team (#1 in scoring defense) was arguably the best "wire to wire" team in our history. Why, I ask you, my brother of another mother did you not have high expectations from our '90 Blue bombers? Were you and Richy Karn finishing up the scripts to Home Improvement which aired later that year? Pre-occupied watching Jerry, George and Elaine on the new Seinfeld show? If you were steering a US tank in the deserts of Kuwait, I not only applaud your efforts but I'd understand the exclusion..........can you splain Lucy?

G-11/Vincent..I'm sorry I did'nt see the resemblance right off!None of the above, sorry to say.I'm sure there were other years,(this is preseason expectations),last year case in point when I thought we were good enough.I was confident enough in '86 to give 14 points to a guy on the Super Bowl(wanted his money badly)!Sadly I am too much of a realist to allow myself to get to excited about anything anymore. You know what they say about expectations vs. disappointment. The reason why the win over the Pats in SB42 was even sweeter the way it worked out.I try not to fall into the homer trap and lose perspective in regards to any team I root for.Never throw players under the bus and never feel urge to walk in front of one! I for one did not think we could beat the Bills in '90.Wide right will live in infamy.I didn't foresee giving away a 24 point lead in the 4th quarter in San Fran.Talk about disappointment! Really thought we could hang with the Ravens in '01! Too often the best team does not win the whole thing! The reason why obscure South American/African villages are wearing Patriots 19-0 Championship shirts today! So you see I'm going out on a limb(big limb)on this one.Not my nature...

Watching the Broncos and Steelers pass the ball more than run it on MNF makes me wonder about this post. Do Eli & the Kids fit into a winning formula for the Giants the rest of the way this 09 season? Let's see, the Saints, Cards and Chargers pass the ball first too. Maybe it's time for Eli & the Kids to take over the rest of the way, if they can...
