Training Camps 2009

Let's keep tabs on the NY Giants Training Camp 2009 here. What are your lastest thoughts, feelings and advice now that the draft is over and the Giants are looking ahead to the regular season's 1st game? Cool video from the University at Albany about Giants training camp: http://history.giants.com/video/5404888/N.Y.+Giants+Training+Camp+at+UAlbany For me, I would like to see the front office continue to press for added competition with the kicker, returner's and db positions. The quality depth the Giants recently added will make training camp even tougher than in year's gone past to simply make the team. That has to be good. The Eagles sure improved... I would like to see more two back sets. Bradshaw/Ware/ new guy into motion to the slot and it pulls the 8th man out of the box and creates mismatches....is it a run? a screen? a pass? I think would go a long way to disguising 4 to 8 plays a game in the Giants favor Do you find this valuable? |

Of the undrafted free agents Sha'reff Rashad got the highest praise from what I can tell.I'm interested in LB Ingram(Flo.State).I like Evans DE(PSU),will follow these guys as they progress.Tryout guys K.Smith LB('CUSE),is worth a look now and then,if they stay who goes? All time favorite players have come from TE,DE,LB(Do I really have to name names?) positions, favorite positions to follow!

The Giants held their final OTA on Friday. Next week, they have a mandatory full-squad minicamp from Tuesday to Thursday. When that ends, the veterans will be dismissed until reporting to training camp on Aug. 2. The rookies will work here another week.

"There is a full squad mini-camp this week(tues-Thru.)Just rookies next week.Full squad training camp opens Aug.2.I can't find a definite answer to your question, but that is usually standard procedure."Understood, by standard procedure, do you mean, to have rookie camp the week prior to the full squad TC is standard? We would be on vacation from CA and en route from NY to Boston would stop by for a day on Friday/Sat in Albany. My son is an extreme B. Jacobs\E. Manning fan and he is starting HS FB this week. Just trying to figure if it is worthwhile to make the stop or just go from NY to Bos. direct. Another ?, is it also worth dropping by the new/old stadium with my hardcore son....? Thanx again, J Thanx gain, Do you find this valuable? |

Recent history has Rookies showing up before veteran's.Perhaps if you called the Giants directly they could help you out.Never been to stadium so I can't say one way of another.let's see if anyone else can help here.

For the third year in a row, Coach Coughlin enhanced team bonding by scheduling a night of entertainment during the minicamp. After practice, the entire team boarded busses and headed to Yankee Stadium for the Yankees-Washington Nationals game. Coughlin started the tradition two years ago by hosting a Casino Night for the players in Giants Stadium. Last year, he brought in comedians to entertain everyone.-Team bonding works doesn't it?! Holy S! Boley is out for 8 to 10 weeks. What a joke. I had no faith in that guy from the start. This torn hip labrum thing is getting way to trendy. Chase Utley, A Rod now this Michael Boley all with in 10 months...seriously, I hope the Gmen don't pay this guy a lot of money.

They already paid him.Don't panic! I liked the signing, still due.I dont think he had the surgery to fit in,LOL.Season starts with Kehl(pass, run)or Wilkinson(run)or both at his spot.Clint Sintim needs to get signed, could see action on third down. There's always Kiwi, but rumors are they want to keep him at DE.On an upside we signed WR Ramses Barden and QB Rhett Bomar.

Wilkerson will mostly likely get cut. He has never been healthy and he doesn't make much of an impact. He is barely a back up. Consider him gone. I like Kehl...he made some nice plays. So Kehl on weak side, Blackburn on strong side. Not stellar but it works is Kehl can step it up. I really don't like Boley...I never thought he was a blue chip player...he's Danny Clark #2

There is a slight chance Blackburn starts but don't use my money to bet on it,doubtful. You can make an arguement for cutting Wilkerson or Blackburn or Clark...There are 11 LBs on roster because of Boley injury final cut will probably leave 7,of the 11,3 are rookies,Sintim makes the team.I think only for sure starter is Pierce in middle. This is IMO the position that is most worrisome on defense, drafted Sintim and signed Boley because they were'nt comfortable there.

I agree that there should be more competition for the kicking positions. I cannot believe that the Giants cannot find a college or free agent kicker who can get the ball into the endzone or at least inside the 10 yardline. Special teams also needs help, we give up too many yards on kickoffs. The rest of the team seems solid and training camp competition will only inprove the situation.

In case you are going:-Giants training camp all-session parking passes will be available at UAlbany's Athletic Merchandise Store, located in the SEFCU Arena Lobby, beginning Monday, July 13. An all-session parking pass is $15.00. The daily parking fee is $5.00. Dutch Quad Lot is the primary public parking facility. The Merchandise Store is open Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. For more information, call 518-442-4522. How about this interesting piece of new Giants history: - New York Giants training camp will begin in the month of August for the first time in the National Football League organization's history. What do you all think about starting in August for the 1st time EVER will do for the Giants? For me, this is exciting to be a part of NY Giants history which has never happened before, for anyone! Hollar!! For the team, it's good that the Giants have so many Veterans on the roster that can help the Rookies get up to speed quicker than normal, hopefully, the WR corp and passing game will not lag behind with the slightly quicker pace of training camp this season.
