1925-Thorpe,being well at the end of his career, was signed for his name recognition. He was paid $200 for a 1/2 game of play(avg pay was $75 per game). He couldn't make it through 1/2 of the FOURTH game & retired afterwards.
1929-Five other veterans (besides Owen) returned to the GIANTS after '28:Murtagh,Hagerty,Wilson,Moran & Plansky who was also a starter. As for the other 4,I'm not sure if any of them started.

I don't have newspaper accounts for every game in the 1928 season, but in the few I have, you can see Plansky, Wilson, Murtagh, and Hagerty all listed as starters in one or more games. Moran played most of 1928 with the Pottsville Maroons. Pottsville ended thier season on Thanksgiving, Nov 29, and Moran then went to the Giants. On December 17 he is listed as starting FB against the Yankess in the Giants last game of their 1928 season. Do you find this valuable?
