"Amazing, we have both well seasoned and raw rookie Giant fans on the wiki and everything in-between, feels kinda special, big shout out for joining! :)My dad and I first started going to games when I was a kid in 1959. (We obtained season tickets in '60.) I believe the first game I attended was a game the Giants lost to the Cards 9-3. The following week we went to the Steelers' game, which the Giants lost 14-9. A few thoughts: You could still show up and buy tickets for seats in the Yankee Stadium bleachers in those days, and that's where we sat. I remember a bunch of guys brought instruments and played them, similar to the Sym-Phony at Ebbets Field during Brooklyn Dodger games. Also, Giant fans may remember or have heard the famous comment that was made by Andy Robustelli concerning the offense's lack of firepower during a stretch when the offense couldn't score a touchdown. The defense would come running off the field and tell the offense "Alright, hold them, guys." I feel fairly certain that first happened after these games, in which the Giants scored four field goals over the course of two weeks. And finally, in the Steelers game I can clearly remember the Giants were leading in the fourth quarter, 9-7, when QB Bobby Lane hit RB Tom "The Bomb" Tracy' on a long TD pass. Apparently, Lane, who had a notorious reputation as a carouser and drinker, must have gotten over his hangover by the fourth quarter. Do you find this valuable? |

The first game I attended was the Giants & Cowboys on a cold day in the nose bleed section @ Yankee Stadium. I do not remember the year, but I do remember Calvin Hill & Duane Thomas(a phenomenal RB) (70-71 perhaps) running over our team at will & I believe the final score was something like 42-14 Dallas. Tarkenton ran for his life most of that game & Roger dodger was the QB for Dallas. Even though we got crushed, I will never forget the feeling of being with my dad, watching the Gmen @ the magical Yankee Stadium.

My father took me to see the Giants first in the Polo Grounds - I think it was in 1952 or at the latest 1963 because I'm sure Steve Owen was the coach. We also used to go and see the Gaints practice on Election day - and we'd meet the team. I heard sportswriter Jack Cavanaugh speak on his new book "Giants Among Men" about the team from 1956 to 1963 and he mentions that after home games the team and their wives would go to the Conerly apartment in the Bronx for drinks and then take the subway into Manhattan to Toots Shors or some other restaurant - the players weren't quite so distant back then.

The 'Jints won the game 47-7 after they changes from cleats to sneakers at half time. The game was played in Yankee Stadium. Do you find this valuable? |

Ironically, growing up a mile from the stadium, I didn't attend my first game til 1996 and it was a preseason game at that. But I have not missed a single game either on TV or radio since 1980. When Simms was drafted he moved into a house just around the corner from my house and I spent the early 80's knocking on his door to talk football or have him play steady QB for us local kids at the park. He was always gracious and obliging. I'll never forget that or him.

I saw my first game in 1961 when we got cable TV in Montreal, the Local CBS channel in Plattsburg n.y. broadcasted all of the Giants games. As a result of cable TV the Giants have a huge following amongst the boomer set in Montreal.

I became a season ticket holder in 1963 and saw my first Giant games at Yankee Stadium. Bought my '63 Chevy Impala SS convertible the same year and kept both. Retired in FL but looking forward to the opening game at the new stadium.
