ProFootballTalk.com article states that BJ is becoming increasingly frustrated by his lack of big numbers. He is also frustrated with the Ahmad Bradshaw questions in regards to comparisons. BJ on the subject " I can run outside but that's not what they want me to do here, if I do it I get critisized because of my size, I should be running through people instead of around them". Ahmads ability to catch the ball is also leading to some frustration on BJ's part. Let's hope this doesn't cause a problem down the road.

Giants G.M. Jerry Reese says he is atill confident the Giants can be a championship team despite their current four game losing streak. Reese pointed to the teams improved play in the 21-20 loss to San Diego two weeks ago. " I believe this is a playoff team. We have a great opportunity to right the ship, and I fully expect us to do that". The opportunity Reese speaks of is the losses by the Eagles and the Cowboys during the Giants bye week. The door is open for the Giants to still win this division and make the playoffs. News from injury front has an Aaron Ross sighting! AR will play this week, no decision on whether he'll start. Bye week allowed DE Justin Tuck to rest his shoulder, he'll play without a brace for first time since week twos Dallas game. On Atlanta side, RB Michael Turner will not play. After the bye week rankings for Giants has follows: NFL, Total Offense, 5th. 7th rushing, 14th passing. #1 defensively in NFL. 13th against the run, 2nd against the pass. NFC rankings, Offense, 3rd, 377 ypg, 138 rpg, 238 pyg. Defense, 1st. 274 ypg, 106 ypg rushing, 168 ypg passing. Betting line is listed has OFF. Vegas thinks it's too close to call. Giants win this week!

The Giants D has been a joke this year, and Bill Sheridan can't hold Steve Spagnolo's jock strap when it comes to play calling and strategy. As a Giants fan their defensive coaching has been an embarrasment. I now understand why Osi Umenyoria had some conflict with Bill Sheridan, because Bill does not know how to coach and is not a leader. If you're going to make your pro bowl defensive end angry who has no history have having difficulty with coaches, obviously Bill Sheridan is the problem and upper management needs to understand that.

I disagree with everyone calling for the head of the defensive coordinator. The D has been hampered by injuries the entire year and they played well enough to win against San Diego. They only gave up 146 yards prior to San Diego's final drive. Yes they got beat, but that happens in the NFL when you don't put your opponent away. A muffed field goal that looks like only the kicker thought it was a fake is all that kept us from a 10 point lead at the end of that game.
I am tired of a predictable offense where it seems like whenever anything is going well we abandon it. I see a lack of aggressive play calling, poor execution at times and a real lack of any innovation on the part of the offense whatsoever. We should be throwing more slants and quick passes to take advantage of our speedsters and keep defenses off balance. All I see though is predicatability, which is why we are getting stopped in the red zone. The playoff loss to the Eagles last year is a perfect example. Jacobs was carving off five yards every run, and Eli was hitting the tight ends over the middle on quick posts. Then every time the Giants had moved the ball into scoring position, they went for long passes instead of pounding Jacobs and had to settle for field goals. The talent we possess on offense is just being squandered, and our D will be fine if they can get healthy and will improve as they settle into the system with Sheridan. Offensively we need to be aggressive, craft plays that work with our personnel, and have better gameplans with better plays and I just don't think Gilbride is up to the task. I want someone like Sean Payton calling the shots.

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio interview with NY Giants QB Eli Manning and Head Coach Coughlin was positive in terms of the young wide receiver corp, but that's how all coaches and players come acoss! Thanks Den.
-Over the final 23 quarters of the season, Manning threw zero touchdown passes to his teammates who play receiver. And that group included veteran Amani Toomer, who has since joined Burress in the category of “former Giant.” On the positive side, both Coach Coughlin and Eli like the fact that you can get more done as a team when players show up and are ready to work hard at practice unlike Plaxico: -“It sends the right message,” Coughlin said. “It tells everybody that every guy is here for the same reason and trying to help our team be as good as it can be. It is very difficult to get that done when we are not here. Guys are here working. You have the older guys sharing with the younger guys. You have that natural process. And obviously you are trying to create the team concept with everything that you do. And to have everyone here certainly helps escalate that.” and -“It’s not exactly like starting over, but we are trying right now to get on the same page,” said Manning. “I’m trying to learn their body language. I’m trying to talk to them on the field and in the huddle and in the meetings, trying to develop chemistry. You don’t want any bad habits to develop.” The projected WR starters are Steve Smith and Domenik Hixon, with Sinorice Moss in the slot. Mario Manningham and David Tyree are in the fourth and fifth spots, while rookies Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden ramain at the bottom, for now. Should be a fun and interesting 2009 season finding how Eli & the Kids progress, move the chains and score TD's! Any thoughts?

Well, I am sure everyone is still in shock. What a horrible ending to the game. Despite the overage of penalties and mis-steps, and despite Lawrence Tynes' dumb-ass move, it was pretty damn exciting in the 3rd during a few of those drives - looking like the Giants are supposed to look. Eli was on the ball. Steve, Mario, Nicks, BJ, Ahmad, Boss; some nice play by the Dee from Osi, Tuck, Bruce Johnson and Thomas.
And then... that horrible final SD drive. I blame it on Bill Sheridan for not keeping the communication together on the Dee to rally and close it off. And then to rub salt in our wounds - DALLAS goes on to beat the Eagles. What a HORRIBLE football day! I need a break.

If we review this weekend in lhr NFC east the Giants gained ground without even playing. I hear and read all types of stories from the coaches on down how the team needs to change things around boy are they clever. Now for the interesting stuff. First of all the Giants have to defeat the Falcons this sunday no excuses accepted. The team has two weeks to get things right. I know their record after a bye week is terrible but that also has to change. This past weekend has given the Giants a new life and they have to start playing like the team they are not the team they have become. The Giants still play dallas and the eagles so more or less the team can get the division lead by winning and not whinning. No after game excuses just play to win and do not play not to lose, there is a differance. Go Giants.

All to often socities look to and hold up our athletes as role models and heroes. In reality, most of them are "good athletes" with a gift they were born with and honed over time with sweat and determination to be the best. Every once in a while, we are blessed with an athlete like the great Ted Williams, Pat Tillman & others who were not only skilled at their craft but knew the difference between service and being served and put aside their riches and fame to sacrifice the ultimate gift, their life, so that we that live and love the USA and all the trimmings that go with that citizenship. On this day, I'd like to "raise my glass" and toast ALL the many brave soldiers that will not be barbequing with their families today, because they have willingly put themselves in harms way on our behalf. We salute the real HEROES of America and I pray for their safety, their anxious and lonely families, the countrys' undivided support of their heroic efforts and for peace to someday abound in this increasingly crazy and violent world. For those members and/or their families on this discussion board that have served our great nation, in any capacity in the military.......THANK YOU, for you are worthy of that unique title!

I thought before the second leg of the season begins I'd try and add some luck by telling the story of "That damn cat...". Weeks before the Giants victory over the Patriots, my youngest daughters friends cat had another of what would prove to be many litters of kittens (take her to the vet already!). My daughter took a fancy to this orange hair tabby we call lilly. Everyday for weeks on end she would relentlessly hound me about this kitten. Since we already had one cat and a dog at the time I did'nt want one more, besides I knew she would'nt take care of it has she would promise everyday. (I was right, by the way! Eat money and crap work!) The night of the Super Bowl she decided to watch the game at her boyfriends house, who by the way was and still is a Patriots fan! Traitor! After the victory over the Patroits my wife went to pick her up. Apparently these two deviant women decided to stop off at her girlfriends house and pick up "that damn cat" assuming that there was no way I would tell her no. Well guess what, I didn't, spoiled brat kid anyway! Lilly has been here ever since and I'm not sure what it is about orange haired cats but she causes me to cuss on a daily basis! I tell the wife if I did'nt have a good reason I'd get rid of her. She thinks it's because she's my daughters cat, when the real reason is because she reminds me of that victory daily! Truth is she's part of the family and safe has can be, love her dearly. That doesn't prevent me from cussing at her, just from choking her! LOL! Well I have to go see what "that damn cat" is into now. I hope you all enjoyed my story. If you have a story about that evening or any Giants win in general feel free to share.

After today's last pre-season game Vs the Pats, the NY Giants 2009 regular season game begins next week against Divisional rival Washington. Playing twice against the Eagles, Cowboys and Redskins in the NFC East will make or break the season.
NFL analyst Kirwan likes the Giants the win the brutal NFC East, even without Spags!: http://history.giants.com/video/7342842/Kirwan+says+Cowboys+fans+are+quiet Interesting to me is that Kirwan says he talks to this guy and that, but really, is Mr. Reese, Coach Coughlin, Marty Mornhinwig (Eagles Off Corr) or any other decision maker really going to say anything other than positives thoughts about the D, WR's and Michael Vick going into the season. Excellent analysis by Kirwan comparing Hicks to both A. Boldin and D. Bowe in terms of ability and Rookie production possibilities. Funny, he quoted Bill Parcells when speaking about Tony Romo this season without TO. I agree, Giants will win the NFC East!

Nov.12 1892 marked the first time a person was payed to play football. William(Pudge)Heffelfinger was paid 500$ to play for the Allegheny Athletic Association team. The Allegheny team defeated the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. Final Score 4-0! Oddly enough Heffelfinger, a three time all american at Yale, was offered 250$ previously but refused to quit his day job and play for less than 500$. First holdout came first! So was the birth of ProFootball!

Coach Coughlin reinterated yesterday that the buck stops with him. " I'm responsible for all the decisions made on this team." "It's my responsibility and thats where it stops. Nobody else is to blame." Offensive and Defensive Coordinators both met with media and both stressed need for improvement in respective red and green zones (inside the 20). YOU THINK?! Interviews can be seen at Giants.com. LBer Gerris Wilkinson has been placed on DL and replaced by a rookie CB. D.J. Johnson was claimed off Denver practice squad. Johnson played college ball at Jackson State. For what it's worth CB Aaron Ross has resumed running and plans to start Atlanta game. Giants players are off next 4 days, returning on Monday.
