The Giants D has been a joke this year, and Bill Sheridan can't hold Steve Spagnolo's jock strap when it comes to play calling and strategy. As a Giants fan their defensive coaching has been an embarrasment. I now understand why Osi Umenyoria had some conflict with Bill Sheridan, because Bill does not know how to coach and is not a leader. If you're going to make your pro bowl defensive end angry who has no history have having difficulty with coaches, obviously Bill Sheridan is the problem and upper management needs to understand that.

The Giants host the San Diego Chargers this week. The Giants hope to end their 3 game losing streak. The Giants are favored by 4 points. The Chargers are coming off a win over the Oakland Raiders. We all know what effects the Oakland Raiders had on this Giants team, lets hope same thing happens to the Chargers and the Giants can right themselves heading into the bye week. The Giants and their fans do not want a 5-4 record and four game losing streak to linger through bye week. Some help may be coming defensively has DT/DE Chris Canty and LB Michael Boley are both scheduled to practice this week. Still no word on CB Aaron Ross who has'nt practiced/played at all since season started. Questions abound in Giants land, Can a back to basics philosophy translate too a win on sunday? Will a sense of urgency permeate the Giants locker room and bring about a win? Can the "communication" problems that were mentioned by several defensive players after last weeks loss, get resolved? Can the Giants eliminate the mistakes and turnovers that have plagued them in the last 3 weeks? Can Eli snap out of his funk? Can the Giants rely on the running game to pace the offense and take some pressure off Eli? If the Giants have any hope of a playoff appearance, winning football has to return! This is the week! Go Giants!

The Giants and Jets will wait for the right partner and amount before selling the naming rights to their new $1.6 billion stadium in the NJ Meadowlands. Giants chief executive John Mara said Wed the teams have had recent negotiations with several companies. "I think it is more important to have the right deal, so if it means having to wait beyond the opening of the building, we'll do that," Mara said. "I don't think that will be the case. I think we will have something done before then. The teams were close to a deal last fall with Allianz that would have been worth an est $30 million annually. Negotiations, however, ended when it was announced that the German insurance Co. once had ties to the Nazis, a history that brought criticism from Jewish orgs, Holocaust survivors and football fans who said seeing the company's name on the stadium as a constant reminder of the Holocaust. The Giants on Wed announced a 15-yr agreement with Timex for the naming rights to their new training facility and corporate headquarters in the Meadowlands sports complex. Mara said that the teams have signed agreements for 3 of the stadium's 4 so-called "cornerstone partners." They will have exclusive naming rights to brand one of the four main entrances to the stadium. MetLife Inc., Verizon and Anheuser-Busch have agreed to be 3 of the cornerstone partners. Mara hopes to have a 4th before the end of the year. Mara said the new stadium hopes to have its 1st event in April, an NCAA lacrosse game (sweet!) The Giants have 1 yr left on their training camp deal at the Univ at Albany, N.Y. Mara said the team has not decided whether to return. The team might train at its new headquarters or split time between New Jersey and Albany, noting the 3 new grass fields at the New Jersey facility might not stand up if used for training camp.
Any idea on which Corporation might step in as Sponsor? How about a Ga$oline company, Chinese firm or Google.

I searched the 'Discussion' board and could not find a "Top 10 Giants of All Time" thread. The Giants.com poll about your favorite 2009 Giants player got me to thinking about the history of the team, the many players and the elite Hall of Fame members over the years. Who are the top Ten and where would I put Eli? :)
This Giants fan has one good opinion: http://history.giants.com/video/6351351/Top+10+New+York+Giants+of+All+Time What is your opinion of the top Ten Giants of All Time? Den, GMen, Ali, everybody, let's hear it... LT on top is easy. Is Jacobs worthy of #10 already? I love Carl Banks (Spartan) but not at #5. I am impressed with his ranking of Bavaro at #2! Need some more time to think this over myself will put my list up shortly. Have fun!

Been a while since I last posted a thread but here's one that's interesting. What do you think is the greatest game of all at Giants Stadium and the greatest single play ever. I've been to alot of games somewhere around 200 and from a pure Giants fan point of view the 2000 NFC Championship has to be the greatest game ever played there. Not a very objective choice cause there have been alot of well played very close games throughout the years but from a solely Giants fan pov this was the most complete game I think ever played 34-0 halftime 41-0 final with the season and a trip to the Super Bowl on the line I think says it all.
The greatest play in my opinion is Amani Toomer's 36 yard TD against the then 13-0 Broncos. Even though the Giants were just 4-8 this is one of those moments that seem to define the entire organization and history of the franchise. It's they're 75th season, not much left to play for but pride and finishing .500 (insert cliche here) the Giants play a good game against a great team on they're way to a 2nd consecutive Super Bowl title and in one single play remind us that any one can lose on any sunday(see 07 Patriots) no matter how great they are

Okay sports fans; Giants Diehards....It's time to grade out the Big Blue Wrecking Crew, our Beloved G-Men. We've seen 8 games so far and we all know we're 5-3 at this point of the season. This is the thread to discuss your opinions about what you've seen from the Giants. Another posts suggest 3 main questions:1.- Eli's play. 2.-Our young reciever corp. 3.-The LB's and secondary.
I would like to comment on all the aspects above and include the running game, special teams, and Coaching. I feel confident in the grades most will give both the O-Line/D-Line, yet I want to hear more from everyone else. It's gonna be tough to discuss your thoughts in one post of 2000 words so if you need to, use 2 or 3 consectutive postings so we can all follow your thought patterns more closely.

After watching the giants latest loss the team has some major problems. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. One of the main ptoblems seems that c c brown cannot cover any one on any given pass play. cc Continues to be outplayed and leaves receivers open and does not look at the ball when making some of his plays. I know there is a lot of blame to go around but the giants should find someone other than cc to play safety.

ELI WILL HAVE GIANT FANS CONFUSSED FOR HIS CAREER. JUST WHEN YOU THINK HE TAKES A STEP FORWARD, HE TAKES TWO STEPS BACK. MAYBE I'M UPSET BECAUSE THE GIANTS HAVE TALENT. BUT WHEN I SEE RECEIVERS OPEN AND THE BALL IS HIGH, BEHIND THE RECEIVER, OR WAY OFF THE MARK, I SHAKE MY HEAD. WE WILL ALWAYS BE CONFUSSED ABOUT ELI, HE IS NOT AN ACCURATE PASSER.

What a week to be a NY fan! First the Pinstripers return to the World Series to play the Philadelphia Phillies, after an extended absence; at least for them. Next, NYG gets the opportunity to exact their pound of flesh vs their hated rivals who knocked them out of last year's playoffs. NY Daily News has a good read and reminder of D.McNabb picking up the phone on the Giant sideline and rubbing their underdog win in the face of Big Blue and their home fans. This fan is anxious to see just how determined our guys are to play like that playoff game truly haunted them. Football experts saying to expect more of the same from Eagirls battered defense. Stack the LOS and make NYG qb beat them with his arm. Thankfully, we may not have to face GIANT killer, Brian Westbrook, who is still trying to remember his ABC's after getting whacked and sustaining a concussion. Looking at the injuries, strengths & weaknesses of both teams, and the under/over, perhaps weather permitting, we see a shootout instead of the typical smashmouth, hard hitting games we've come to expect from this rivalry. Let's hope our jolly "green" GIANTS (Beaty, Nicks, Mario and other newbies) are prepared for the magnitude and intensity of this epic battle.......NYG, NYG

Saw that newly restored in color, HD quality documentary on ESPN about this game, how cool was that! It brings this historic game home and then some!! My fav part was the late 4th quarter controversial spot of the Frank Gifford run for a 1st down which would have sealed the Giants win in regulation time. Colts D-linemen Gino Marchetti busts his leg during the play but manages to stick out most of the rest of the game watching from the sideline. What was sweet was how the documentary used a math formula and calculated where the correct spot of the ball could have been and whether it really was enough for a 1st down and the game. Using the two camera angles, the 35 and 40 yard lines and some vector lines, it was pretty obvious the ball was short. Giff was certain he had that 1st down though!
Just to remind you, the 1958 NFL Championship Game was played on December 28, 1958 at the soon to be the old Yankee Stadium in New York City. The Baltimore Colts won 23-17 in sudden death overtime over the New York Giants, the 1st sudden death OT game in NFL history. The game was also televised nationwide. Did any of you see the documentary or remember watching the game?

OKay kids: see if you can jive with this one. What are some of the funniest, most outrageous, slickest, or coolest stories you have stocked up about an encounter with the Giants?
Example: when I was something like 14 or 15 years old, I was a MAJOR Joe Morris fan. I used to have this poster of Little Joe on the door of my room, and I kept a Joe Morris card in my wallet for superstition during the games and good luck. One day, my dad was playing in a Jaycees basketball game against some of the Giants, including Joe, in my town. There was this little kid sitting behind Joe in the bleachers. I decided to pay the kid off $5.00 so I could sit there instead. I got to chatting with Joe and showed him my card; then a couple times I went up to Offense Defense Football Camp to pick up my brother and connected with Joe. In essense, we became friends. Joe ultimately ended up calling my brother and me when it was time for training camp for a few years, and invited us to come down as his special guests at Fairleigh Dickenson when they practiced there. Joe gave me protective warnings over the years about not falling for any of the guys on the team (cause they were sleezy 20-somethings), he got the '86 team to ALL sign a special plaque for my birthday (maybe it was my graduation), and he also invited my brother and me to sit at his table at LTs restaurant the night they did the Joe Morris retirement party. Special times. I am not really sure where Joe is now, but boy he made this kid feel pretty cool! I bet there are some fun stories amongst us. Care to share?

Hey Giant Fans, let's put down some thoughts about Tony Romo in this thread so we can back up Brandon Jacobs, one of the Giants most popular players, he has some juicy quotes here:
http://www.comcast.net/sports/russakoffrules/30228/plushestoonicetohomelesspeople/ No sense looking past game 1, however, game 2 in Dallas just got amped up a bit more. The Giants D will come ready to play against the Cowboys O and show that Romo is a pocket passer only, right!
