The NFL expanded the "Rooney Rule" and now require teams to interview at least one minority candidate for its senior Operations jobs. This rule will not apply to owners or a member of their family or where a pre-existing Promotion of a Staff person to a new position is in place. There are 5 minorities in top Executive positions including: NY Giants Jerry Reese, Rod Graves (Arizona) Martin Mayhew (Detroit) Ozzie Newsome (Baltimore) and Rick Smith (Houston.) NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed all 32 NFL teams that they are strongly urged to include minority candidates for all open positions.
This is another nice reason to respect and like the NY Giants, they care! As the NFL's oldest franchise it makes sense that the Giants pioneer the way each season with change for the good!!
