RE: Numbers that came out of retirement

Personally, I think that some of the Giants esp. the HOF'ers should have an Honor akin to their number being retired. Unfortunately, as I and others here are aware, there are too few numbers in the NFL to go around. Extrapolating the situation is the (wonderous!) idea that years down the road, all our players are eventual HOF'ers. So we would "retire" most of those numbers, which would leave us with no #'s for the "current" team. I like the idea of those places with the Rings of Honor, or the Idea of placing their # on the wall/plaque for us all to see. Our Giants have been Blessed with many, many Great talents over the illustrious history of this franchise. As well as the Blessing of the Mara family, whom we should NEVER forget. I feel we should have established some type of Honor for those guys at the New Meadowlands. Plus bestow those revered numbers, (like the #10's and 21's, 53's and such..) on current players "Who exemplify the Honor and Tradition of the N.Y. Giants, and Uphold the Values, Spirit, and Longevity of Playing for one of the Most Recognised, Storied Franchises in NFL History"; in other words-Give to the players-like an Eli -a number like 10-he will only bring greater Honor and Glory to the Franchise, both on and off the field. Granted, there will never be another player like 56, but if a player can EARN that #, then that alone can be an early indicator of the Future staus of that player. Additionally, if he is enshrined then perhaps his Jersey can hang in the rafters like the banners at the hockey stadiums. A kind of semi-retired #.
