Early Giants Home Game ProgramsThis is a featured page

The 1920s

The first Giants home game was against the Frankford Yellow Jackets on October 18, 1925. Like other home programs in 1925 it had a picture of the Giants starting lineup. A reproduction of this program was included in a special promotion in 1976 for opening day at the new Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands.

The Giants first home win was against the Cleveland Bulldogs, but the game that gave the Giants a financial victory was when Red Grange came to town in December.

In addition to the team photo, the Grange program has some great pictures of the players who laid the foundation for the Giants in New York City.

Benny Friedman

Benny Friedman was the Giants superstar attraction in 1929 and was on the cover of every home game program that year.
Even on a menu from a team trip to Chicago, there was no doubt that he was the Giants answer to Red Grange.
The press called Friedman the "Babe Ruth of football."
