The Giants of New York
In 1963 Barry Gottehrer published "The Giants of New York," which starts with the 1962 Championship loss to Green Bay, but quickly takes the reader back to the early days of the franchise and provides an accurate and complete history of the Maramen. For example, Gottehrer correctly notes that the Giants first game was in Connecticut against the All New Britain team led by Ducky Pond. And he provides a photo of Jim Thorpe playing cards on the boat that took the Giants to their second game, against Providence, RI, and almost sank along the way.

Giants of New York 1963 Thorpe
Jim Thorpe plays solitare while Giants Coach Bob Folwell watches during a boat trip to Providence in 1925. The boat took on water and came close to sinking. Giant Heine Benkert fell asleep with a cigar in his mouth and almost set the boat on fire. Most of the team was seasick upon arrival and lost to the Steamrollers 14 - 0.

New York Giants Media Guides 1935 - 1945
The next book was published by the Giants and it has no date in it, but has one section with records through 1963, so it might have come out in 1964. Joe Cronin, Pat Hanlon, and David Gaylinn put together copies of the Giants Media Guides from 1935 through 1945. This is a priceless reference for Giants fans, listing rosters, brief player sketches, coaches histories, team and individual records, standings, schedules, odd facts, and, during the war years, an Honor Roll of Giants serving their country.

The Story of a Football Team
In 1964 Al DeRogatis teamed up with NY Giants photographer Dan Rubin and published a photographic essay about what goes into making a football team - scouting, training camp, the week before the game, how the game is played, and how the players relax off the field. There's even a section of tips for photographers.

Sherman on Sidelines
The book is filled with classic black and white images, like this one of Coach Sherman on the sidelines.

Y.A. Tittle: I Pass
Don Smith worked with Y. A. Tittle to tell his story in this 1964 book. Starting with his childhood, through his college days, and covering his pro carrer with Baltimore, San Francisco, and finally the Giants, Tittle writes he hopes his book "has squared me with everyone who has taken the time to read the story of an old bald-header quarterback."
