| The book was promoted with advertisements in the Giants' game programs. It came in hardcover and softcover and sold well enough for an update to be published in 1939. The additional player and team photos included the 1935 Giants, which March labled as the Gum Shoe Champions of 1934. The 1934 Giants won their title by beating the Bears on the frozen-solid field at the Polo Grounds. | My Kind of Football The next book to give a history of the New York Giants came in 1952 and was written by then Giants coach Steve Owen. It was called "My Kind of Football" and was dedicated "to all those who have worn the Giants' uniform and to all those who have played against them."

I'm trying to put together this page in some chronological order, but there are recent books that should be mentioned. I went to a talk yesterday by sportswriter Jack Cavanaugh who has just published "Giants Among Men, How Robustelli, Huff, Gifford, and the Giants Made New York a Football Town and Changed the NFL." Mr. Cavanaugh gave a great talk and what I've read in the book is very interesting - not just about the Giants but about New York and about the other key teams of that era - it looks like a worthwhile read!

No I can't because only 4 of them are in it!#50 Ken Strong,#17 Red Badgro,Coach Steve Owen,and #7 Mel Hein (top row,3rd from left).#1 Ray Flaherty is not in the photo.
