Reading this morning's NY Daily News, just more confirmation that green machine will pick up right where the late great Jim Johnson, left off last season. 8-9 men up at the LOS, 2 Deep, man under, corners in bump and send the charge at Eli Manning. A scheme that is almost impossible to run against. Why not counter that, much like the '85 Dolphins did vs the relentless charge of the 46 happy Bears? Line up Boss on right side for xtra protection, have him take on the blitzer momentarily, then slide into secondary going to his right, while Eli rolls the pocket to his right , allowing him an easy pitch and catch to a big, should be, wide open Boss? I know this, if Gilbride does not have a plan to account for "rush hour" in Philadelphia and Eli is going to stay in pocket, we are in for a long afternoon and Manning a world of hurt. Good play action with both RB's picking up a blitzer too, should allow our receivers several 1 on 1 opportunities to get open deep, much like they did a few times vs the dirty birds in last year's playoff contest. For all our fans who wonder why we can not consistantly run the rock, and control the clock like we normally do, it is because opposing defenses are rolling the dye and taking their chances on stopping the run but leaving their secondaries vulnerable. Early in the season we were making teams pay IN SPADES for that gamble and if we are to win Sunday, we MUST find that successful formula and execute it to perfection. Then and only then, might they back off some and open up chances for us to run the football. Witherspoon is an athletic LB'er who will be charging more than mastercard! I'll say this again because it bares repeating; if we beat Philly, gilbride and manning will likely be the reasons why........let the chess match begin.......NYG NYG

The struggling redskins, looking for help on offense have brought long time OC Sherm Lewis out of retirement has an offensive consultant. Lewis has 3 Super Bowl rings has a position coach with the 49ers. He was an OC with the Packers and the Vikings. Lewis was last in league in 2004 with the Lions. Lewis gave up Meals on Wheels and I'm sure what was a lucritive job has a bingo caller, to join the Redskins. There goes the division Giant fans! The Redskins are back!

Well if there was any good being a giants fan this week it was watching the eagles loose to the raiders. At least the eagles did look worse than the giants if that is possible. I hope the eagles stay playing that way at least until the giants play them in a couple of weeks.

Second game of season is on Sunday night featuring longtime NFC rivals the Dallas Cowboys who host the N.Y.Giants. Cowboys are favored by 3. Cowboys debut their brand new, pride of JeRRy, stadium. Cowboys hold 55-36-2 record against Giants. Cowboys 31-19 at home. Both teams are coming off wins in week #1. Giants Defense, especially in secondary, features majority of injury list. Giants players who missed some or all of practice this week include: S's Johnson and Phillips, DL Canty, CB's Ross and Dockery, LBers Boley and Sintim, OT Koets, WR Nicks and RB Ware. Nicks and Ware were injured in last weeks game against the Redskins, and will not play. CB Ross is still nursing hamsting injury that is holdover from preseason, he is also going to be out. S's Johnson and Phillips are listed has questionable has well as CB Dockery. LBers Boley and Sintim were limited in practice and listed has questionable. DL Canty will miss his return to Dallas and will not play. The injuries to the secondary could be huge. Dallas QB Tony Romo has given the Giants fits in the past and a depleted Giants secondary could prove a factor in stopping Dallas's passing game. Let's hope the Giants O-line will open some holes for Jacobs and Bradshaw. A strong running game would limit Romo's opportunities too exploit secondary weakness's. The Giants D-line will need to bring A game and apply pressure to Romo. Opening of new stadium in my opinion puts pressure squarely on Cowboys. Back to back NFC East opponents for Giants. Biggest test of season thus far.

This is concerning the cheap tripping foul by Adams on J Tuck during the cowboys game. I do not know how badly this injury is to jt but according to coach we are not sure if he will play this week. I hope the injury is minor and things will be fine. As for adams I understand this is normal for him when he cannot protect his qb. If he cannot handle the job he should be in charge of the Gatorade maybe he can do that without getting a penalty. The cowboys cannot even cheat and win the game.

It is great that the Giants are 3-0 in the division. I think that the G men will continue to keep in first place for now since they have been better on both sides of the ball. The special teams and kicking games still need work. The Giants should do ok in week 4 playing the Chiefs but you never know with the giants. It is great being a Giants fan when the skins loose to the big bad lions, imagine that, I wonder how long the skins will keep thier coach my guess is 2 to 3 weeks or less. Dallas winning in big D was no great achievment they still are not playing well and the Eagles should have won so that is no surprise. I can see the Giants improving every week and hopefully they can eliminate the injuries and improve especially the kicking game they should be ok. Also the G men need to keep up the td's in the red zone.

Can you hear Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle singing their record hit? How about "Fire the caterer, I'm think I am getting diarhea" look on JJ's face when the kick went thru the SECOND time! LOL A look back @ the keys to NYG victory:
{Our offense MUST play NYG football and move the chains and control the clock. Fair or not I am circling this game as TEST #1 for our highest paid QB and another step forward or backward in where his legacy belongs in Giant history when all is said and done.. With our secondary in shambles, the best we can hope for is a great game from front 7 and limit Dallas to less yards than Bucs gave up (472) and we will accomplish that however that will NOT be enough to come out with a W as it did in SB42. I go on record here as saying that if we win, Eli Manning will have to carry us to victory. That translates into a great 3rd down completion %, NO picks, fumbles or ill advised INTs under pressure. (throw ball away) and making Dallas pay every time they stack the LOS. No doubt in my mind, with all that crowd noise the cowboys will want to make life miserable for him as they did last contest (8 sacks). Eli will have to beat them deep once or twice also 4 our offense to nullify home field ad and their big play offense. IF IF IF the younger Manning can do these things and we control the clock, similar to the way we did vs. K-gun Bills in 1990, not only do we go 2-0 in division but Eli takes that step needed to be considered that quality QB that can be relied on to CARRY his team to victory in big games. IMO, we will not be able to run the ball effectively}, We had the ball again for nearly 36 minutes. Depleted defense gave up alot less than 472 yards, even though our D-line was manhandled as were our LB's. Eli, NO t/overs, a decent 3rd down % (did not like some 3rd down playselections) & plenty of beautiful deep passes, b/c we could NOT run the ball. Eli gets an A, DB's A NYG B+. C ya in Tampa! |

Giants fans, in response to the Redskins "Hate Week" add in what you know about any Washington Redskin (or Boston Brave) players past (Deon Sanders) present (Albert Haynesworth) or future (?.)
Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth is 340 lbs and made a funny about his weight in 10th grade being the same as Brandon Jacobs weight today at 250 lbs: http://history.giants.com/video/7431282/Brandon+Jacobs+vs.+Albert+Haynesworth Pretty sure that's not Bulletin Board material but it is funny. :) I like how Brandon and Coach Coughlin showed leadership and respect in the clip. Albert claims the NY Giants showed big interest in his free agent services this past off-season. The Giants made a trade in 2002 with Tennessee for the 14th pick where they took TE Jeremy Shockey. The Titans picked Albert next at 15 and the rest is history leading up this Sunday's game. With Shawn O'Hara at center alongside guards Rich Seubert and Chris Snee plus FB Madisen Hedgecock, the GMen's interior will be busy wearing down Albert for a possible 4th quarter (hopefully it's over by half-time) win at Giants stadium! |

Some interesting facts about this NFC rivalry and the significance of Big Blue getting out of the blocks early.
1] Giants Stadium has long been a house of horrors for Washington. The Redskins are 12-21 all-time playing the Giants at the Meadowlands and have lost four of the last five games there. 2] Sunday’s game is the 10th time the Redskins and Giants have played in Week 1 of the regular season. The Giants hold a 6-3 edge in these games and have won the last five. 3] The last time the two clubs played in Week 1 was last year, on Sept. 4, 2008, when the Giants won 16-7 at the Meadowlands. 4] In Week 1 regular season games, the Redskins have posted a 37-36-4 all-time record. The Giants are 47-32-5 all-time on the NFL’s opening weekend. 5] NYG is 87-61-4 vs. Washington Redskins all time, a .587 winning percentage and outscored the Indians by 274 points (3018-2744) 6] First NYG QB to Pass 400 Yards in a Game: Y. A. Tittle passed for a then-club record 505 yards vs. our Week 1 opponent the Washington Redskins, 10/28/62. (who broke his club record) hmmm I wonder. LOL How important is Week 1? Since 1978, teams that are victorious on the NFL’s opening weekend are more than twice as likely to reach the playoffs than losers of their opening game. Thanks Den for the countdown! NYG NYG |

NY Post reprorts QB Andre Woodson, cut Saturday by the Giants, was signed to the Redskins' practice squad. Ya think he'll be happy to throw up what he knows about Big Blue Playbook? Ouch! I wonder how our coaching staff navigates around a situation like this. AW should know not only our plays, but our handsignals tendencies too. Could it be that he was signed simply as a way to get the upperhand in Game 1? Advantage Skins...........

Michael Vick has signed a two year contract with the Eagles. The Eagles press conference is scheduled for 11:am today. In postgame press conference last night Coach Reid said that " Mike's been signed to play QB". He also said "Mike's not here just to stand on sideline's". Hmmm! The Eagles are putting on the smiling face's but talk radio in Philly is not. Fan reaction to the signing is negative at best (Philly!). No protesters yet at Eagles facility but it's an off day for the players, having played last night.
