I'm trying to put together this page in some chronological order, but there are recent books that should be mentioned. I went to a talk yesterday by sportswriter Jack Cavanaugh who has just published "Giants Among Men, How Robustelli, Huff, Gifford, and the Giants Made New York a Football Town and Changed the NFL." Mr. Cavanaugh gave a great talk and what I've read in the book is very interesting - not just about the Giants but about New York and about the other key teams of that era - it looks like a worthwhile read!

Just finished the book: Making the big game,Tales of an accidental spectator by Jeffery Fekete. I liked it, didn't love it, didn't hate it. The book begins with a brief history of football. It's beginnings, the scientific name for a football, which is a Proliate Spheriod and Knuke Rockne. The book continues with his childhood and how he became a football fan, which leads to his settling in Southern California. The story continues when his wife's boss (who is a lifetime Giants fan) wins the Giants ticket lottery. Due to health circumstances her boss cannot attend, the tickets then go to Mr. Fekete (who is in radio advertising) to either sell or buy said tickets. Once deciding to attend, the book follows the journey and his online hunt for a third ticket for a cousin. The book weaves back and forth between personal stories, varied history lessons and the state of the online ticket trade, peaking at the actual game itself. I thought his accounts of the game from a spectators point of view to be very insightful. May have been best part of book. If you read the book hoping to find it about the N.Y.Giants, you will be disappointed. This book is more about the man and the journey more than the game itself. One man's opinion.

Allllllllllllllliiiiiiiii, your cowboy cutie has thrown out the first rope in hopes of lassoing some "GIANT BULL" for this Sundays game. Yes mamm, see what DeMarcus Ware thinks of our beloved Big Blue squad. I like NYG's lack of response to it. Always a good sign when a team needs to pump up his lame defense with 11th grade insults. This will turn out to be a great Diehl for our O-line and team. http://www.newsday.com/columnists/tom-rock/giants-canty-won-t-trash-talk-cowboys-1.1451072

I downloaded a software program to my computer that allows me to watch the New York Giants and basically any other NFL game online via live streaming feed. I use it because I'm at work (aargh..) a lot of times when the games are played, and there's no TV at work.
It's easy to operate and downloads very quickly. I like it so much that I watched basically the whole preseason online. The only pc requirements are DSL or cable Internet and a windows operating system (sorry mac users), and it apparently works in any country. Anyway, the website below will give you instant access. http://tinyurl.com/2009NFLGameOnline

Jersey boys
Nicks wore a No. 18 jersey this spring and summer. This fall, he'll wear a different one. When TE Michael Matthews was traded to the Patriots, it freed up No. 88, the number Nicks wore at North Carolina. That also means P Jeff Feagles can move back to the No. 18 he wore the last four seasons. Feagles had been wearing No. 17 this season, a number vacated when the Giants released Plaxico Burress in the spring. When he first came to the Giants, Feagles wore No. 10, but he gave it to Manning in exchange for a vacation for him and his family. He then wore No. 17, but a year later he traded it to Burress for a new outdoor kitchen at his home in Arizona. He's been wearing No. 18 since, until this preseason, and is now back in it. And just in case anyone bought a Leger Douzable jersey after his forced fumble helped win the preseason opener, he's changed from No. 78 to No. 90, vacated by waived DE Robert Henderson. den, I'm really pissed; I wasted $19.99 on Douzable pj's with #78 on the back of the shirt and also across the back of the boxer shorts. Just my LUCK!

Guys,
Not sure if you have see the series America's Game - it's amazing. It's a series that NFL Network shows from NFL Films that features the stories of the seasons of SB Champions. Late last night I saw 1986 again, and tonight I watched 2007 for the first time. It was just amazing - what an uplifting watch! If you have not seen these, you must watch! I had not seen 2007 before since it is fairly new, but you really need to either find it on the NFL Network or get the DVD. Coughlin, Eli and Strahan narrate - and it is just a joy to watch the entire evolution frm the 2006 team to the 2007 team, Coughlin's new approach, Strahan's 'non' camp pre-season, Eli coming out post Tiki, the goal line stand, the Green Bay Ice Bowl 2.... all the way to kicking some Brady ass after his pre SB comments!
