If we review this weekend in lhr NFC east the Giants gained ground without even playing. I hear and read all types of stories from the coaches on down how the team needs to change things around boy are they clever. Now for the interesting stuff. First of all the Giants have to defeat the Falcons this sunday no excuses accepted. The team has two weeks to get things right. I know their record after a bye week is terrible but that also has to change. This past weekend has given the Giants a new life and they have to start playing like the team they are not the team they have become. The Giants still play dallas and the eagles so more or less the team can get the division lead by winning and not whinning. No after game excuses just play to win and do not play not to lose, there is a differance. Go Giants.

I think so..... mario for sure....and Steve Smith is FIANALLY getting the full-time playing time he deserves. I love Domenik Hixon, and I think Barden will wait like Mario did. Nixs has Pro-Bowl size and skill....shame about the injury. Go Big Blue!!

Okay sports fans; Giants Diehards....It's time to grade out the Big Blue Wrecking Crew, our Beloved G-Men. We've seen 8 games so far and we all know we're 5-3 at this point of the season. This is the thread to discuss your opinions about what you've seen from the Giants. Another posts suggest 3 main questions:1.- Eli's play. 2.-Our young reciever corp. 3.-The LB's and secondary.
I would like to comment on all the aspects above and include the running game, special teams, and Coaching. I feel confident in the grades most will give both the O-Line/D-Line, yet I want to hear more from everyone else. It's gonna be tough to discuss your thoughts in one post of 2000 words so if you need to, use 2 or 3 consectutive postings so we can all follow your thought patterns more closely.

After watching the giants latest loss the team has some major problems. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. One of the main ptoblems seems that c c brown cannot cover any one on any given pass play. cc Continues to be outplayed and leaves receivers open and does not look at the ball when making some of his plays. I know there is a lot of blame to go around but the giants should find someone other than cc to play safety.

ELI WILL HAVE GIANT FANS CONFUSSED FOR HIS CAREER. JUST WHEN YOU THINK HE TAKES A STEP FORWARD, HE TAKES TWO STEPS BACK. MAYBE I'M UPSET BECAUSE THE GIANTS HAVE TALENT. BUT WHEN I SEE RECEIVERS OPEN AND THE BALL IS HIGH, BEHIND THE RECEIVER, OR WAY OFF THE MARK, I SHAKE MY HEAD. WE WILL ALWAYS BE CONFUSSED ABOUT ELI, HE IS NOT AN ACCURATE PASSER.

And good luck to the giants tomorrow...like they will need it though.

The Giants are getting healthier as they gear up for Sunday's showdown against the unbeaten Saints. It looks as if tight end Kevin Boss, linebacker Bryan Kehl and running back Danny Ware -- all of whom missed last week's game with the Raiders will return. Boss practiced yesterday on a limited basis. "I was out there running full speed, "It's better than I thought it was.Ware dislocated his left elbow on a kickoff return on the very first play of the season and has not played since. He also practiced and said he is ready to return."I don't see any reason why not," he said. "I can do everything.Ware could be used as a third option out of the backfield, especially if Brandon Jacobs continues to struggle to relocate his power-running form. Ware will wear a brace on his left elbow. "I'm probably going to carry [the ball] in my right arm just to be on the safe side, but I can always throw it into that left arm if I need to stiff-arm," he said.Kehl last week had two screws inserted into his fractured left index finger and was upset he was not cleared to play in the 44-7 rout of the Raiders."It would have been a great stat-padding day," said Kehl, who declared himself "ready to go. Eli Manning practiced on a limited basis and said he's feeling better every day. There aren't any negative vibes coming from the Giants regarding Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey, no stranger to controversy when he was with the Giants. "The worst thing is he has no filter," defensive end Mathias Kiwanukasaid. "The first thing that comes into his mind he says. You got to respect people like that. You just can't take everything they say to heart." It looks as if the days of Sinorice Mosshandling the kickoff and punt return duties are over. Domenik Hixon came back last week after missing 2 games with a knee injury, and it appears as if he will take over for Moss this week. YES (emphasis mine)

I just found this on NFL outsider . Power rankings by weakest link! http://mvn.com/outsider/2009/07/nfl-power-rankings-by-weakest-link.html.. This is what they had to say
16. New York Giants: Wide Receiver " On most teams, the hodgepodge of youthful talent that the Giants have at the receiver position would be considered an excellent base for a developing team, but the Giants aren't at the developmental stage in the life cycle of their team. They are in the "get Eli help now" stage, and have very few pieces who can be relied on. Rookie WR Hakeem Nicks needs to make an immediate impact, or the intermediate routes run by Domenik Hixon and Steve Smith will get stale quickly. I wonder what they are saying now ?(oh believe me , I intend to look) lol...Smith ( 37 / 481 and 4 TD's) along with Manningham ( 20 / 342 and 3 TD's ) have injected life into an offense averaging 257 passing ypg which includes Boss and Nicks combining for another 17 / 264 and 2 TD's . This passing attack has already amassed 1312 yds on 98 receptions WITH 10 TD'S! . So stick that in your week link power rankings HEE HEE !! |

MLB Antonio Pierce said in an interview on Tuesday that last weeks game against the Oakland Raiders was more like a scrimmage than a game. "It was almost scripted if not a controlled offensive performance, has far has tempo." AP said he grew up a Raiders fan and it's pretty amazing how far they've fallen.

My kids have rarely heard profanity in this household, however, on Nov. 25, 2007.....I confess.....GUILTY. That was the day Eli played the worst game of his life, including Pee Wee and Nerf football. On our way to a 41-17 beat down in front of the homers, Manning threw 4 INT's, 3 of them returned for TD's. Words spewed out of my mouth that would make a sailor blush; most of them directed at Eli and Coach Coughlin. The first INT taken to the house was picked by then Viking CB, Darren Sharper. Moving ahead 23 months and now the new and improved Eli returns to his home town to show the GIANT steps forward he has taken on his way to becoming a quality NFL QB. Gone are the days where Eli was Peyton's younger brother. No longer do you hear G fans lamenting over how many draft picks the Chargers received or how Phillip Rivers has progressed. No sir/maam, now we marvel that last week on a bum wheel, our quarterback pitched a perfect QB rating. As sure as we are that former NYG TE Jeremy Shockey wants to prove something this week, I am just as ceratin that Eli wants to show his home town people and Darren Sharper that neither Shockey, Barber, Burress or Toomer made him special; no he gained that adjective via hard work, an inner self belief and through sibling rivalry. He has put himself in the conversation of the sacred brotherhood of NYG great QB's of the past. While I am cleansing my soul, I must confess my appreciation to our GM who did not hear or heed my vulger suggestions; instead he kept believing in TWO TRUE BLUE men that once again have allowed us to be contenders.........AMEN!

I am curious as to why this board is so darn quiet. What's up gang? WE ARE 4 and freakin 0!!! Injury updates Good News: Eli had MRI, results pending, but he says he will play this Sunday. No so good News: Boley looks like he will be out for a few weeks with knee injury. Not overly concerned with that one either. Sintim should be back this week. Blackburn can play the position as well as can Kehl if he has to. Turns out we do have good depth at many positions. This may be the week to consider resting Eli and possibly Bradshaw and have them feeling stronger for the Saints game and grueling part of scedule. I'm not saying we win this week's game by just showing up, but McFadden is out, da raiders are pathetic with him and we have to trust our back up QB, RB, LB's can do what they get paid for. Dress Eli and Ahmad, in the event their replacements stink it up like the Staten Island Dump and use them ONLY if necessary. Ware should be ready to go also from what I've read. I wonder how both Jerry Palmieri and Markus Paul our Strength and Conditioning coaches are feling these days.............or are they injured too? LOL

Rumor mill whispers are beginning churn with news that Chris Canty may be done for the season. I caution all BIG BLUE believers that right now it is only a rumor.
An entry on Train of Thought by Inside Football editor Pat Traina. In case you missed it, here was Pat's quote: "Early whispers are that the Giants might shut Canty down for the year, as every time he seems to make progress, he experiences a setback. However, they're going to continue to exhaust every last possibility regarding treatment before that decision is made," Pat wrote. http://www.screamingsports.com/giants101/ has their take on the whole issue. |

The line opened on Monday at 12.5 points. Eli has'nt practiced all week and the line is now 14.5. The Giants injury list keeps getting longer and line gets bigger. Is this a possible letdown week, is an upset in the making? I don't think so! How bad is it in Oakland?

One Man's Perspective On Big Blue's Rash of Injuries
Nothing puts a damper on a winning season more than watching your team's players go down with injuries. With Michael Boley and Bryan Kehl now joining the walking wounded, many Giant's fans are hanging their heads. Not I. While listening to Antonio Pierce today on WFAN's Mike' D Up (Hosted by Mike Francesa), I realized just how good a time it is to be a fan of The New York Giants. Pierce was asked when he believed The Giants will have built up a good cushion for themselves, he responded: "When is the Superbowl?" Pierce continued by saying: " I would love to be out there every week with Kenny Phillips, Chris Canty, and Michael Boley, but the guys who fill in for them don't view themselves as backups. They are starters in this league and come ready to play each Sunday." I can't believe there was once a time when we thought Tom Coughlin was not a good coach. The words of Pierce and so many other Giants' players in inverviews reflect just how much they have internalized the accountability that Coughlin so vehemently preaches. Each player expects nothing less than perfection from themselves on a weekly basis. In the end, there is a light at the end of this miserable tunnel which has lead us to 4-0. Now on to the the shocking news:
