Giants G.M. Jerry Reese says he is atill confident the Giants can be a championship team despite their current four game losing streak. Reese pointed to the teams improved play in the 21-20 loss to San Diego two weeks ago. " I believe this is a playoff team. We have a great opportunity to right the ship, and I fully expect us to do that". The opportunity Reese speaks of is the losses by the Eagles and the Cowboys during the Giants bye week. The door is open for the Giants to still win this division and make the playoffs. News from injury front has an Aaron Ross sighting! AR will play this week, no decision on whether he'll start. Bye week allowed DE Justin Tuck to rest his shoulder, he'll play without a brace for first time since week twos Dallas game. On Atlanta side, RB Michael Turner will not play. After the bye week rankings for Giants has follows: NFL, Total Offense, 5th. 7th rushing, 14th passing. #1 defensively in NFL. 13th against the run, 2nd against the pass. NFC rankings, Offense, 3rd, 377 ypg, 138 rpg, 238 pyg. Defense, 1st. 274 ypg, 106 ypg rushing, 168 ypg passing. Betting line is listed has OFF. Vegas thinks it's too close to call. Giants win this week!

Giants host the Arizona Cardinals this week. Giants are 7 point favorites going into the game. The Giants are coming off a memorable/forgettable loss at the Saints. This is the second week in a row that the Giants are facing a team coming off a bye week. The Giants will be tested again this week in the secondary by the Cardinals who are talented at WR and have a wily veteran QB to get those WR's the ball. The Giants will need a much more aggressive perfomance from the Defensive line to offset the secondary issues. The Giants will also be tested on Offense has the Cardinals are #1 against the run this season. If the Giants can't find a way to run against the Cardinals, Easy E and the other Steve Smith will have to find a way to exploit the Cardinals weakness which is defending the pass. The 1986 Super Bowl Champion Giants wii be honored before the game.

On one of the pregame shows Drew Brees was confident that the Saints would put 40 on the Giants. Well the Giants certainly did their part to make that prediction come true. The Giants need to get healthy in the secondary. On a upside, the Giants were able to improve on the return game. Clearly the recent JV schedule masked some weakness's on the defense. Next week's game against the pass heavy Cardinals may be more of the same if the Giants can't find answers on the defensive side of ball.

OK, so we have passed the 5 quizzes & now on to the Exam. Here's what we know about our NY Football Giants. We have soundly beaten the 5 tomato cans (OK 4 and a "romo"tely decent one) LOL thus far on our schedule. Like Ali has stated, we have not rested on our laurels as we did last year vs. The Browns. We have a starting QB that has matured immensely over the past few months & is as hot as anyone. We have a very competent back up QB who has a nice handle on our offensive scheme, a live arm the ability to run when pocket collapses. We have a great complimentary tandum backfield, young hungry recievers and the best all around O- line in Pro football. We have ostracised the injury bug and 2nd team players have filled in very nicely and gained invaluable experience. N.O. should be favored at home, however, Pierre Thomas does not strike fear in this ol' heart and if 5'11" Brees has to win the game soley in the air vs. our D-line, Big Blue wins. Similarly, I do not see anything on Saints D to predict they can consistantly stop the "most balanced" offense I have ever seen in Blue. We should be able to move the chains, control the clock and put pressure on Drew and co. to "keep up". Our young secondary will be tested no doubt as will our 3 veteran LB'ers. I am putting the spotlight on our defensive leader Antonio Pierce, as I know our former OC, Sean Payton will bring a diverse game plan filled with screens, draws, trickery and a lot of play action. NYG wins if both teams play to potential imo. I'm still of the belief that Saints will want to be convinced Eli is for real, and thus, early on plan to stop the run. No reason not to see Smith, Nicks, Mario and a healthy Boss have their opportunities to get open often. Tynes gets my 2nd spotlight and will have to be razor sharp as this game just might come down to field position and 3 pointers....what's your opinion(s)? Here we go Giants, here we go.....

Here's what we now know. NY Giant WR's are fine, better than fine; we do not need marshall, Bolden or Plaxico! 2] It is good to have former Miami Hurricanes on your roster Bruce Johnson a walk on and Kenny Phillips from the U, played huge and scored when we needed it. 3] Antonio Pierce was INVISABLE and should do a commercial for Raid, he was "roached" so many times in the middle of the defense. 4} Our O-line grades a big A+ for protecting our STAR QB. You heard me.....Eli stepped up and carried the offense the way I thought he would have to for us to win; we could not run today but Manning made Cowboys pay early and often; he takes huge step tonight in my view of him 5] We are 2-0 in our division and Philly is not quite as good as advertised. 6} NYG played with tremendous heart & grit when so many key guys are shelved with injury. Hopefully Hixon and Tuck are back soon.7} We need Barden for red zone ASAP. 8} Sheridan is nowhere's near as aggressive as Spags and I hope that changes when we get healthy; he rarely blitzes.8} Jerry Jones will need sleep aide tonight and I love it! 9] Tynes kicked off better tonight and was major clutch to kick TWO winning FG's. Last but not least, Ali can now smile so brightly, her uncle will see it from the heavens.......BIG BLUE - TWO FOR TWO......."G"-ood night BLUE BROTHERS & SISTERS!

Tampa Bay is a big underdog against the Giants. On paper it's a mismatch. Coach Joe has some excellent points about how to defeat the new look Bucs (remember the Cowboys info who Tampa played in Game 1, for December 6th when Dallas comes back to play at this Giants Stadium for the last time!):
http://history.giants.com/video/7575454/Chalk+Talk+with+Coach+Joe+9-9-09 The Bucs Head Coach Raheem Morris is 32 years old and his team is 0-2 looking at a 0-3 start. The trend of young Head Coaches in the NFL worked for Pittsburgh last season but the jury is still out whether it's here to stay in today's NFL (like the Wildcat offense.) Two new coordinators spells trouble for Tampa. Not a believer in Leftwich at QB. Coach Joe wants speed on defense to win this game but the Giants secondary just lost Phillips for the year. Sounds like a good time for linebackers Boley and Sintim to display some of their raw speed on Sunday. Everyone wants to stop ex-Giant RB D-Ward but Cadillac Williams is playing inspired ball so watch him. Tampa's young offensive line is in for a long day. On D, the Bucs do have Adams at DE so avoid him early. Ronde Barber plays Corner (Tiki Barbers twin bro) but he's 34 years old. The quicks that Manningham and Smith possess at WR is a mismatch for Barber. Two Rookie OLBer's for the Bucs spells trouble for them when the Giants O-Line and Jacobs come pounding the edge with off tackle sweeps. Watch for Boss to finally get on track. with some play-action passing. The Giants will not go undefeated and the Bucs will probably win one game, just not this one.

Nice clip of the New York Giants 2009 Preseason game highlights:
http://history.giants.com/video/7364949/NY+Giants+Preseason+%2709 What do you think of the Giants 2009 Preseason effort and results? Preseason 2009 was enjoyable. Watching the back-up QB's evolve, especially Carr, is hopeful if they're needed. Playing the cross town New York Jets for perhaps the last time in Giants Stadium was history in the making. With all the pressure on him, the biggest treat of the Giants 2009 preseason was watching 1st round draft pick WR Hakeem Nicks respond like a champion and step up his game Vs the Jets and Pats to show the NFL, Giants fans and New York that he's ready for the Skins. |

Looks like Jerry Reese has done it again! Our #1 draft pick showed he is ready for the transition into the NFL and to be a big part of our offense. So what we lost to the Jets; we answered many of the questions we needed to answer. Our 1st team O-line was brilliant protecting our QB's and our D-line put constant pressure on Sanchez. Blackburn showed he can play the MLB position. Eli threw some beautiful passes in the 1st Q one to a usually sure handed Smith that should have been 6 points and a ball to Hixon that was picked but should have been caught; Manning was not as stellar after that point and missed an open receiver a couple of times that seems more like getting used to the individual receivers speed than anything else. Carr looked competent and confident and seems to have a knack for finding Hakeem already. Bradshaw maintained his better than 5 yards per carry average. Our secondary had a few mental breakdowns but overall played pretty good w/o Ross in the lineup. I would have liked to have seen Ramses in the redzone more, because we were not very efficient there last night. Overall, I give NYG a B+ for the game. Omit Smith's dropped TD, Hixon's drop/turnover & Jacobs uncharacteristically allowing the defense to strong arm the ball from him and the grade goes to an A-. Let's get healthy and NYG will be ready to "skin" Washington alive.

Okay folks - how awesome was it to watch that 1st pre-season game???? I had the best time (Roble can probably attest since I assume he was following me on Facebook for at least part of the game). Okay. Clint Sintim ROCKS! The RBs ROCKED - not too shabby Patrick Allen for a 4th man, but so awesome to see BJ plowing through, Bradshaw pulling the Panther team down field and Danny Ware stepping it up to take #3 for a continued rushing game to out rush the rest!. DEEEEEE!!!!!! Need I say more? Depth city! So killer to see Osi and Tuck together - and Cofield playing, and AP with his leadership and passion plugging in the holes! Kehl! Stepping it up and getting more aggressive out there! Nice backfield - everyone was heads up for tips and picks! And Corey dress in the side... Eli and Madison H - nice work. Eli, nice leadership. WRs: nice to see barden and Nicks get their 1st 1st downs in the NFL tonight. Felt badly for Tyree for sure, and I don't know - Sinorice didn't impress me on the returns (running backward). Manningham looks like he's stepping up, learning the routes and running fast. Hixon had a nice catch - wish we could have seen Smith out there (also dressed on the side). Special teams: outside of Old Man Feagles (whose son is the freshman punter at NC this year), special teams needs work. Okay. Tommy Hill! NICE ending to a great 1st pre-season game! So much fun! And btw, I even thought it was interesting (barring the sack) to see how fast Bomar was able to get the ball out. Obviously he has some other work to do yet. Carr was pretty impressive too.
Andre Woodson. Hm. Need I say more?

RR, how bout that #44 bro? Running game looked great vs 1st team defense. Eli showed nice footwork in the pocket. Carr looked good too. Mario should have had that perfectly thrown TD pass. NYG defense looks like fast. A very good half for sure. BIG BLUE 14-2.

First of all it was great to watch the Giants last night. Like everyone else I thought the game would go into ot but the turnover and td won the game. The starters played well for the first game. Both the offense and defense played well. Jacobs and Bradshaw looked good and the running game seems to be starting out fine. Also with Ware playing really good foorball he could be the third running back for the Giants. Carr was ok at quarterback but Woodson seemed lost at times. He tends to hold on to the ball too long and seems to think run before pass. With rookie receivers to examine the play calling for Woodson did not really give us a good look at Nicks and the other receivers. Actually I know it is the third string but I can't see many of them making the team. Although a lot can happen before the season begans. The Gianta seem solid on both sides of the ball and even on special teams. With more work I think the Giants will be ok without any major injuries when the season begins. One more item did it seam the announcers slanted to the Panthers most of the game. That is the way it seamed to me also I cannot stand Jaws even when he played for the Eagles., Jaws thinks only the Eagles play in the NFL.
